Looking for a consistent and stable 5 mw pointer?

At 5mW you are not going to see the beam in daylight. Maybe not even at night, at that power it depends heavily on ambient conditions. There is no doubt Laserglow is good stuff, but you should also check out Optotronics. If you want to see the beam at night, for less than $10 more you can get IR...

Argh! I've become the local laser repair guy!

You could try putting flat washers between the knurled focusing ring and the heatsink to prevent the lens assembly from being turned in too far but it would still be able to be unscrewed.

    Help with focusing ring

Is the tape stuck in the threads on the outside of the lens assembly or the inside of the heatsink? A very fine brass wire brush will remove the tape from the threads. The inside threads on the heatsink would be harder to workwith but not impossible. Look at brass brushes used for gun cleaning...

    Yob 650nm Aurora C6 260mW

Recently I acquired a yob built 650nm, 260mW, Aurora C6. It's powered by 2 CR123A Li-Ion rechargeable batteries. It is typical yobresal quality. Power output as measured on my LaserBee II with a pair of Juice brand CR123A batteries is 260mW with the supplied acrylic lens. Running on one...

    1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180 A wrap and a half or two of teflon tape on the threads of the lens keeps it where you want it while still allowing you to refocus.

    Buying a 20mw 405 from Rayfoss

The 405nm violet pointers from itemquickship aka wlaser on Fleabay are all overspec. Another good seller is laseryork, a presumed roommate of the aforementioned. Mine ranged from 41 to 53mW. Even the 53mW pointer beam is barely visible at night. It depends greatly on ambient conditions such as...

Link to overspec violet pointer that ships from USA.

    Buying a 20mw 405 from Rayfoss

Check out this thread before you buy. I bought 4 405nm pens from itemquickship for about $8 each and all measure over 40mW with one at 53mW.

    Customs take O-like lasers?

Opto 150 can light red matches, pop balloons, and cut black tape. Easily visible beam indoors (against dark colors) in average lighting, too bright for nighttime star pointing. Bright enough to mess up night adapted vision. You will be very happy with it.

    Customs take O-like lasers?

I don't work for or get anything for promoting them, but Optotronics is located in the U.S.A. so if you live here there is no going through customs. They are high quality, IR filtered, overspec, and personally tested by Jack before he ships them. He answers questions pronto and is highly...

    Best 18650 Charger

I just got this one with batteries. Pretty good deal. Highest aH batteries I've seen in this size. Time will tell how good they really are.

    My First Green Laser Pointer

I can't speak for Rayfoss but have a few Optos and highly value them. Check out this one, Optotronics is located in the U.S.A. and I think it fits your needs.

How to Make Fog Without a Fog Machine For better beam viewing. "Cheap & Easy for All"

Re: How to Make Fog Without a Fog Machine For better beam viewing. "Cheap & Easy for But what does it smell like? Would my wife come home from work and ask what the hell I was burning? Neither of us smoke cigarettes so we can smell if something is amiss.

Full lunar eclipse in a few hours!!

As I mentioned before I was clouded out last night and missed the eclipse, but here is my first attempt at imaging the moon with my new Canon T2i my wife bought me for Christmas. The moon is less than 24 hours past full.

An Arctic! Don't burn the wall down! (j/k) I'm using 5mW pointers so I don't have to wear goggles in the darkened room and can see what I'm doing.

Thank you for the cookies but I did not meet the time constraint. I had a few beers before attempting this, I may or may not be able to do it any better. You should give it a go.

Full lunar eclipse in a few hours!!

I was all set to image the eclipse but was clouded out. The next total lunar eclipse visible for North America will occur on the night of April 14-15, 2014. Nice shots Blord and aryntha!
