    Cyonics Uniphase 2214-40MLA Argon Laser

Depending on how you're running your tube, you'll ideally want to turn the tube current up slowly until you get it to where you want it and when you're ready to shut it down you'll want to turn it down slowly. This is to avoid stressing the tube.

    Pulsed Er:YAG Laser Destruction!!!

Probably not much since it would be pretty difficult to get 16V to jump across the length of a flash lamp. If you DID manage to get it to arc over then it would just ignite like a lightbulb and burn up the tube from heat. Photonicinduction did something similar to this with a very large xenon...

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

Check out Therm App. They seem to be making some very affordable high quality compact thermal imagers. Though the pricing is roughly the same as an FLIR E4. Therm-App | Android Thermal Imaging Camera

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

Sorry to say Duke but, that quoted resolution is the LCD screen resolution. NOT the sensor size. Its a bit of a slick move for sure isn't it? The tech specs state, ● 206 x 156 Thermal Sensor There is a discussion about it on EEVblog if you're interested...

Prisms in WWII tank periscope. To harvst or not

Theres a nice trench scope in these indeed. I purchased one of the ww2 periscopes but the scope was already gone. So I might take it apart for the prisms. For anyone wondering what the trench scopes were used for http://i.imgur.com/lzAQMNK.jpg

    Something new

DeadEYeMo did one of these types of hosts. I think they're pretty cool. http://laserpointerforums.com/f72/now-something-completely-different-88015.html

    really invisible laser

I think you are all thinking about it too much. Heres the way I see it. When you're doing a magic show for a crowd of people, isn't there usually several people who record the event with their camera? In case some of you guys don't know, cameras are a lot better at seeing IR light than we can...

Just received my first true pointer - Optotronics 30mW

Sure. 10mW is pretty safe. Most eBay pointers are much higher than 10mW even though they're clearly listed as <5mW.

Ever set anything on fire... unintentionally?

Never set anything on fire unintentionally but I've come close a few times. I was working with my new 40W co2 laser tube and testing its ability to burn stuff. Using a black soda can as a beam stop I didn't realize it was reflecting a GOOD portion the beam about 90 degrees until the back of my...

    FEELER CNI 561nm 5mW pointers.

Re: FEELER: CNI 589nm and special wavelength <5mw pointer GB I'm interested in pricing for 561nm too.

Few things for sale - Open to trades!

Bumping it up there! Don't be afraid to ask questions or make offers. The worst I could say is no.

    I'm very impatient.

I think there is some confusion going on here. So I'm going to do my best to clear that up. I'm also going to be as non-biased as I can. I think the problem lies in a few areas. Firstly and most importantly I don't think people realize that these lasers are probably not live inventory...

Sorry to necro post but I thought everyone else might enjoy this as much as I did.

    Good Books on DPSS Science??

Sam or Steve are both resource gods of the laser world. If its knowledge your after then they are my top recommendations of people you can ask. I'm sure there are certainly other people as well who specialize in this area but I'm at a loss as to where to point you. You can best contact Sam...

Anyone Heard of This Laser Precision Corp LPM Sensor?

The sensor is completely trashed. All of those scorch marks will affect "any" calibration you try to do reguardless of wavelength. You will have no way of knowing how much those scorches will affect your calibration. Not to mention you need very stable lasers of each wavelength (and some in...

People giving themselves CO2 laser tatoos?

Yeah, I didn't read the indestructible post. In which neglecting to mention safety glasses for a system like this is a huge "NO NO". I'm not sure what can be done about that other than trying to contact the author. Maybe petitioning his post? Not sure. Though if you watch the video he clearly...

People giving themselves CO2 laser tatoos?

You aren't going to get skin cancer from a C02 laser and he was wearing safety glasses so he wont end up with cataracts. That still doesn't mean he isn't a complete moron for doing this. Though who am I to judge what people want to do? I've seen much stupider stunts with lasers anyway.

Anyone Heard of This Laser Precision Corp LPM Sensor?

I couldn't find anything matching the head either but sometimes you can't. Anyone could have made that head and it could be designed for any wavelength. Though at a little over 4lbs I'm inclined to believe it was used for 150W lasers. Naturally without a datasheet there isn't much information...
