    Space and Other Non-laser Distractions...

Thank you for the kind words! I use a stock/unmodified DSLR, so there is no cooling. Noise is a big issue for me... especially since I live in the southern states where the weather is predominately warmer. I mitigate some of the noise with shorter exposures (most of the time 3 minutes or less)...

Post Your Tablet and Thoughts on It!

I use an iPad (3rd gen), but I find that I'm using it less now that I picked up the iPhone 6+... however, I feel it has more to do with the speed of the A8 processor than the relative screen size.

    Space and Other Non-laser Distractions...

Thanks for all the kudos, folks. If this sort of thing interests you, there are a ton of online resources to help you get started. Photography has been a hobby of mine for some time, but I'm still very new to the genre of astro-imaging. I don't have high-res versions of these hosted at the...

    Space and Other Non-laser Distractions...

Two of these were taken with a telephoto camera lens and two of them were taken with a telescope attached to the same camera. There is a popular misconception that you need some ridiculously large telescope to photograph something deep in space. The truth is that many objects are quite large...

    Space and Other Non-laser Distractions...

Thanks, man! Well, for deep space objects, the CliffsNotes version is that you point a camera at the sky and take a lot of long exposures and then smash then together like you're making a Dagwood sandwich. For the moon, you just point and click. I would be happy to elaborate on any part of the...

    Space and Other Non-laser Distractions...

Howdy, peeps! I've been away several weeks with some distractions pulling me away from the colorful beams for a bit. Mostly, it has been work and the process of buying a patch of dirt for my wife and I to eventually build a house on... that has been involved. Of my hobbies, the only one I've...

    The Adegan Relic - 5.5W NDB7A75

Isaac - this is amazing. You have raised the bar with this build documentation... the whole story, pics, vids... you deserve a bucket of rep for that alone much less the incredible handheld that you have created. Kudos, man... I want to build like you when I grow up. :) c
