    blue laser question

If you want brightest blue, you'll want those 462nm laser diodes. The only problem is that they don't have the best beam-shapes. For a single-mode blue, i.e., one that produces a nice dot, you'll probably want the ~445nm blues such as the PLP450. Those 445nm lasers produce a deep blue, but it...

Anyone here take Curcumin from Turmeric? Opinions pro or con?

What I thought was interesting/funny was that there was a placebo effect even in those people who knew they were taking a placebo! Interesting that you're trying those too! I know I was getting an effect from piracetam, because after taking it consistently it was causing me to become way too...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Hmmm... that does sound like BS then. I'm glad you didn't accept the cancellation though, because those are dirty tactics. I wonder if they were speculating on the XJ-V2 dropping the price of the XJ-V1 or...

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please They jacked the price on that too! That XJ-V1 projector is selling for that price on Amazon now too (~$420 shipped in case the price changes there too) if you don't want to deal with Fleabay.

Need Help in Soldering? For Beginners - Solder & Flux 101

I've never used paste flux, but liquid flux works pretty nice when dispensed via a squeeze bottle with a syringe tip.

Feeler: Group Buy of laser light dispersion fiber.

That does look pretty nice, and more uniform and brighter than those sparkle fiber optics. I tried using a laser with the sparkle fiber and it looked pretty good, but the biggest problem was finding a consistent method to couple the light into the end since it was usually just some bundle of...

Anyone here take Curcumin from Turmeric? Opinions pro or con?

If you get serious about these bulk powder supplements and don't want to choke down the poweder, you can save quite a bit by buying a capsule-making machine and capping your own pills with bulk powder. I originally used one of those 24-capsule "Capsule Machines" that Amazon used to sell (can't...

    Help to focus 445nm M140

Another thing to try is to remove that focusing ring and try focusing it down by turning the lens barrel manually. Also, depending on how deep the 12mm module is, if you're using the spring that comes with the lens, it might prevent you from screwing the barrel all the way down. I've had to...

UPDATED feeler for a Group Buy-- RGB projector full color

Yeah, seeing the output from a projector is really cool stuff, especially when you can create your own graphics for it. You don't see those rich colors and sharp lines in any other medium.

    Help to focus 445nm M140

You'll have to just rotate the lens gradually so that the beam gets smaller. You'll eventually get it to a point where the beam is tightest, but with those G2 lenses you'll probably still see a lot of splash outside the main "dot." The dot itself will look somewhat rectangular. It's just how...

The proper effective cheap safety glasses

The thing with Prime is that I don't need to go out shopping to buy what I want. It saves time, and in many ways, money. Since the shipping takes so little time, I can also get stuff when I "need" it but don't want to wait a long time or consolidate my order. Plus, sometimes there are some...

635-640nm >100mW diodes with cleanish beams?

Yeah, I've used those 500mW @700mW 638nm lasers at night and the bar is definitely very visible. The nice thing about a really tight beam is that it will have a much more concentrated beam that could even look brighter than the highly divergent beams.

    24W blue laser help?

Hmm, if that's the case that could simplify things substantially.

UPDATED feeler for a Group Buy-- RGB projector full color

This sounds really good! From what I've seen of those variance forms, they're not a pain to fill out. Plus with the projector being already compliant you don't have to explain much stuff.

635-640nm >100mW diodes with cleanish beams?

Those single-mode 638nm diodes will do. $30-40 or so at DTR's laser shop.

200 mw shone in eye for split second, but had eye glasses on?

Yeah, that laser is probably 50mW or so. Even those 5mW cheapo pointers will often be 10mW or more because they're sensitive to heat and voltage, and it is more expensive to add power-control hardware. Perhaps the laser hit your eye for a short period and at an angle and so it didn't directly...

UPDATED feeler for a Group Buy-- RGB projector full color

I'd definitely like more red too, but I'm guessing that it'd require quite a bit of correction optics, or knife edging, with the diodes that are available. Still, having more power in the other channels is usually better than less. :)

Definitely interested in this, are they sealed/dust-proof?

    24W blue laser help?

I wouldn't put bare diodes in parallel with the current source. If one of those diodes gives up the ghost, the other diodes are going to receive the excess current which will create more stress on the other diodes. Then those diodes start to fail, repeating the process in a chain reaction...
