pics using lasers and water pt.2 1/13/18

I like seeing the focus effects of the "lenses". +1 HM

    Klingon Disrupter "toy"

This is an NdYag SSY-1 module with a flash tube. Because it has a dye cell Q switch, I once had it ionize air! The module is surplus and now hard to find. I hope to be able to feed the chamber about 20 J from the caps. By the way, the power supply is a photo flash supply with a voltage...

    Klingon Disrupter "toy"

The top will hold the Li Cells plus the Power supply and trigger circuit. Below is the SSY-1 unit with capacitors behind and the trigger switches are in the grip. I forget now what crap was in there but it seems to be made for a NdYag! Any spare area will be stuffed with FLASH caps! The...

    Klingon Disrupter "toy"

Has anyone ever tried building a laser into a Klingon disrupter toy housing? It seemed like a neat brother to a Star Trek phaser. An SSY-1 NdYag module seems to fit like a glove in this "toy" The opening under the module fits a basic Axis module and the trigger is two stage for target and...

Killer deal on USB spectrometer! (update: legitimate!)

I just loaded this new software. Now to make it work! HM

Map of Members with Access to Laser Power Meters

I have several Scientech meters but I am in North Iowa but there is little laser activity here. HM

FS - Scientech Mod 374 with head

This is my last try ------ I'm getting older and don't need this meter. It is a Scientech 374 (37-4002) with 360203 head. Battery powered for remote use. It is rated for 100 Watts! $600 plus shipping in the USA. This has been a mess trying to list --- Lets just try a Scientech 365 or a...

Will one of you driver gurus tell me if this driver is suitable?

Morphs -- That's a lot of questions which are discussed all over these forums. 1. nM range is specified because some members want a specific color to fit their needs. This nM output can vary from diode to diode depending on current, lot number and temperature. 2. In any batch of any product...

    CNC Laser 2017

My post #8 shows some fun stuff my little CNC can do to small wood placks. I'm trying to get more power to achieve a deeper burn. HM

    Levitating tiny diamonds with lasers!

Would this work in an evacuated tube? That would eliminate air currents. HM

    Laser bazooka

Steve - That 80 Watts would be more impressive with a ZnSe expander. My old star warz gun has two different expanders. I set fire to a piece of cardboard in my basement from 35'. My wife was NOT impressed... HM

    CNC Laser 2017

Encap -- You are right about that but there is a big difference between engraving and cutting. Most of us here don't have the desire to build a 40 to 100+ Watt CNC system. I enjoy etching (engraving) small wood pieces and this old inexpensive kit was then basic fun. People ask me what I do...

    CNC Laser 2017

I'm Kinda glad this came up because I was going to start a new thread. Long ago, a number of us bought a small etcher kit which included a Blu laser at low power. I have played with it occasionally but recently converted to a DTR 209 diode with an adjustable power supply. Although the laser...

Wow. GREAT price on a good fogger

With my old fogger, I found that after using it, the pump had to be purged with distilled water or the pump would lock up. Mine is like an Argon ion laser -- run them frequently. HM
  18. Hemlock_Mike

    Remember to exercise those argons!

I don't run my Argons often but when I do, I let the cathode heat for about 10 minutes before I power up. My ML02 Lasos gives me 8 lines using a CD. It has "rested" for almost a year and light right up. Let the cathode get hot before you slip it the meat! HM

    Finally!!! LASOS argon laser!!!!

After a year of sitting, I fired up my old LASOS. It is a LGK 7872 ML02. I let the cathode heat for about 10 minutes, turned the key and BLUE beam. At low power or high power I get 8 colors using a CD for a grating and yes, at full power, it will pop a balloon! Being chilly here today, it...

    New laser module half-working

He said that he has goggles for a laser engraver. Most of them are CO2 and his protection may not be for the 450 nM wavelength. Also he states that this is for engraving but then says it is for a burning handheld to "pop and burn". I'm confused. HM
