Did you ever try this laser with 1.5V batteries? Not enough voltage won´t kill the laser, but result in much lower output sometimes.

It´s less powerful than the Note and the iPad Air. But for sure even fast enough for almost every application. Remember that it was already released back in February 2013. Afaik Sony doesn´t have a newer version of it, but I could be wrong.
