    quantum dot lasers?

I did read the Wikipedia article, but it hasn't changed much in over 10 years. The last time someone added new information was in 2010, and that got removed as copyright violation. However, this sounds very promising: Does this mean we can expect future laser diodes to have really high...

    quantum dot lasers?

I did find some websites claiming to have them for sale: https://www.laserdiodesource.com/shop/1310nm-6mW-TO-can-quantum-dot-QD-Laser http://ldselection.com/product/1548 https://imm-photonics.de/en/products/optoelectronics-and-components/laser-diodes-and-laser-diode-modules-from-qd-laser#c787

    quantum dot lasers?

I recently became aware there is a new class of solid-state lasers based on quantum dots. From what I gather, they're supposed to have really good specs. However, there doesn't seem to be much information about them. So my questions are: 1. How energy-efficient are quantum dot lasers compared...

    a New sharp violet diode

A long time ago, everyone said that all 405 nm lasers are single-mode. It seems this no longer the case. Considering that single-mode operation is required for optical disc drives, these diodes are likely intended for projectors and such.

    a New sharp violet diode

Are these lasers still single-mode? I didn't see anything this in the spec sheets, but other diodes with similar specs are apparently all multi-mode.

    The spam

Posted this in removed but thought I'd share it here too. One idea to reduce spam would be to add an additional CAPTCHA on the sign-up page. For example, there could be a question like, "What does LASER stand for?" A side benefit is that this would require the user to do at least some basic...

    "Assassin" handheld lasers?

Has anyone here used one of those lasers? We have a few of these lasers at work in our hardware labs. I couldn't find much information about these lasers, but they seem to be identical to the SDLaser 301 or 303 models. Although we don't have any balloons, matches or anything to test their...

New site live - please report any questions/issues here

Sometimes the home page glitches up and causes text to be displayed vertically. Refreshing it usually resolves the issue. I'm using Chrome.

Have CNI-style lasers gone out of style?

I think CNI stopped shipping portables to the U.S. in 2014: https://laserpointerforums.com/threads/cni-no-longer-exporting-5mw.88382 Which is unfortunate because CNI makes the largest variety of handheld lasers. It might still be possible to get them shipped to the U.S. via a foreign freight...

Have CNI-style lasers gone out of style?

Yeah, I noticed Dragon Lasers is one of the few remaining companies that still sell CNI-style lasers to consumers. I remember people used to criticize Dragon Lasers for selling under-powered lasers, but it's been a while since I've heard any complaints about them. It's probably safe to assume...

Have CNI-style lasers gone out of style?

I just realized I haven't been on this forum in over a year. Things have changed so much while I was gone! Speaking of which, one thing I noticed is that people seem to be straying away from CNI-type lasers. I remember NOVAlasers, Optotronics and Laserglow being the most highly recommended...
