594nm pen rebuild (Rigel-2) Current Draw + opinions?

Hey guys! I have a 594nm CNI pen module out of a Laserglow Rigel-2. Eight years ago, the driver broke free from the module, thereby rendering the laser effectively useless. At the time, the module and driver made the rounds of the DIY experts in an attempt to be repaired, but no one at the...

Are there any of these? What do they look like? What kind of duty cycle could one of these handle?

    WTB: Spartan 589nm 50mW

I'm actually planning on doing both 589 and 594. The color difference between the two is quite significant, and is especially amplified by the difference in power between a Spartan and a 594 pen like a Rigel. I still have a working module out of a first gen Rigel-2 that I'm planning to get...

    WTB: Spartan 589nm 50mW

I'm going to be buying a Spartan 589 very soon, so I figured that it might be prudent to see if someone here had one they'd want to sell. Having a laser already Stateside with a known output and no reliability issues would be nice. Lmk what you've got and how much you want for it. Thanks, Rob

How did you get hooked on lasers?

I was always a fan of Star Trek and Star Wars and the like growing up, so when I saw my first laser pointers for sale in a magazing called The Edge Company back in 1994, I knew that I had to have one. Granted, their cheapest ones were those little three button cell keychain pointers for $49.99...

lower powered single mode 638nm and 450nm lasers?

As a big time old schooler who has only recently found my way back to the hobby, this thread made me chuckle. I remember when a 2-300 mW 660 or 405 was a top dog handheld, and 635s over 10mW were prohibitively expensive. It's gonna take me a while to get used to this! :shhh:

Still hard to check the wavelength between 405nm and 445nm

Watch him send that pic as proof of what it's supposed to look like and they'll steal it and use it on their site. These people already sound shady as hell telling him to prove it when they doubtlessly know that they sent the wrong thing.

    Multi-Stage-Peltier Cooled Red/Orange Laser?

I'd wager that if it were right next to a 635, you could tell a bit of a difference. But if it were by itself, it would probably just look red. :/

Does anyone even care about 473nm anymore?

I bought mine with my enlistment bonus for joining the Army way back in 2006. I'll never sell it or get rid of it even if it breaks because of what it symbolizes for me. :) To be honest, by today's standards its a piece of junk, but I do not care! lol

    Multi-Stage-Peltier Cooled Red/Orange Laser?

The general thinking is 1 nm per 10 degrees C below zero, so with a perfect combination of a low bin and perfect temps, about 625nm or so would be the best you could hope for. Keep in mind that red led traffic lights are 625nm.

Does anyone even care about 473nm anymore?

It's my second favorite after 589 tbh. It's an absolutely gorgeous sky blue! I've got one that does 18mW on a good day, and I'd like to have something with a bit more oomph to it. Ten years ago, it was really strong for a 473, but these days, it's a bit under-powered. :)

True, I should have specified new ones. :)

Does anyone even care about 473nm anymore?

Under $200 for any dpss 473 is way too much to ask for unfortunately. You're looking at about $300 to get into one no matter what.
