    Spectro-ing the new Nichia 1.4W "462nm-470nm" NDB7675

Nice job, thanks! Do you think it's possible to a photo of the two outputs, max and min, with custom fixed white balance but automatic exposure?

Burning my finger on purpose with a 3W 445nm laser.

How focused was the laser? Parallel or pinpointed to your finger?

    Mike's Electric Stuff Clearout

Did I hear lasers? Some stuff will be free, others will go for peanuts. :) Stockwood Park, UK. May 18.

    2048: Lazer Edition

Another suggestion might be organizing lasers by their output. 2 for HeNe's, 512 for 405's, and 2048's for M140 diodes, and maybe 4096 for the new 9mm 445's. :D

    Can i use PC Psu?

Larry is right, the 12V rail is rated at about 80% of the PSU's total output. Look at the PSU sticker for exactly what the rails are rated at. If the PSU is a single rail power supply, it can dump all of its current into one 12V rail, but just watch out for hot melting wires. If it's...

The "Sun Shiner" (a triple MT-G2 build that pushes the definition of "practical")

Re: The "Sun Shiner" (a triple MT-G2 build that pushes the definition of "practical") Wow that stripped and polished light looks really nice. Is the switch handling all that current?

Youtube - is this acceptable quality

Yup, I think so. I couldn't compare the original side by side, but 1080p looks much better than 360p. :)

Youtube - is this acceptable quality

It doesn't default to 1080p, just 360p on LPF. I do have a Chrome extension to force every video to max resolution, so it does play 1080p default on YouTube though.

Youtube - is this acceptable quality

Good idea, try using H264 5.1 High profile and a large keyframe distance, such as 300. Might take a while but certainly makes the files smaller.

Youtube - is this acceptable quality

There's a significant quality jump from 360p to 480p, so if there's a way to increase Doom's resolution, try it. Or you can re-encode the video and double or quadruple the resolution. Not the most effective, but should prevent YouTube from butchering the video quality.

Youtube - is this acceptable quality

It's not too bad, but may disappoint some viewers that the red HD logo doesn't pop up next to the resolution button. What's the resolution of your FRAPS recordings?

    Feeler: The BAMF

Haha perhaps. :) Feels really solid in the hand. The knurling provides very good grip. It's like a TN30 with an extra heft, haha.

Going through airport security with a 100mw 532nm pointer

Yup, the warnings demanded no more than two spare li-ions, but I guess I was okay because all my cells were inside the lights.

Going through airport security with a 100mw 532nm pointer

What did he test it for/with? I had a similar experience, I brought 5 flashlights with me to the US three weeks ago (3 EDCs, a K40, a SupFire M6) with 18650 cells in each (10 total) as well as a power bank with 4 li-ions and the security didn't say a word. I was concerned that I had to ditch...

Free sample of 405nm UV diodes

Wow, I've never seen a TO-46 package. How does it need to be heatsinked?

Buying experience with both DTR and Sinner

DTR and Sinner are awesome guys. Keep us posted how the build goes!

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

As for an LED, I'd actually recommend an XM-L2 neutral or warm white or an MT-G2. The latter has respectably high efficiency and the ability to push it beyond 3K lumens. Here is a great site to search for drivers: http://www.videofoundry.co.nz/ianman/laboratory/research/driverlist.php
