I want to be able to see "invisible" wavelengths too.

Using a camera to view IR is probably a better idea than a permanent modification to our body.

    Violet laser mod

Why does the laser you have disappoint you? Why do you want a stronger laser? What do you want to be able to do with it? Cheap? How much are you willing to spend? If you are good with soldering you can put together a dangerously powerful laser fairly easily for not much money. There is tons...

    Violet laser mod

Chances are that your 405 is already over spec and will meter at more than 5mW. Instead of trying to mod it, just buy a better laser.

Looking for a laser for 600yard application.

Why are you unwilling to tell the people who are trying to help you exactly what you are trying to do? Why the secrecy? Knowing what you are trying to achieve will help us help you. Without it we are really just guessing.

I want to be able to see "invisible" wavelengths too.

I think this is absolutely fascinating. Injecting an "ocular nanoparticle" that can detect near-infrared light (NIR) directly into the eyeball allows mice to see in near IR. https://www.cnet.com/news/scientists-give-mice-infrared-vision-turning-them-into-tiny-predators/ "Mouse eyes, like human...

gel color filters for DIY safety glasses

Because that would be stupid. There actually are certified glasses available at reasonable prices.

gel color filters for DIY safety glasses

Trying to save a few dollars? How much is your vision worth to you? I think $100 to protect my eyesight is very inexpensive.

Looking for an adjustable laser that can heat up toenails

As to how long it takes to get "too hot", that is an unknown. It is dependent on the laser's power, it's wavelength, the diameter of the beam, your skin color, and your pain tolerance. I have never seen ND filters that are specially designed for laser pointers. Why not try something simple...

    Post your random pics!

I have never seen anything like this before. We had very high winds on Monday night that left the fields covered in snow "tumbleweeds." On the flat or down hill areas they got fairly large. The impressive thing is that smaller snowballs actullay formed by rolling uphill.

Looking for an adjustable laser that can heat up toenails

@T_Warne : You'd pay to watch someone try to shine a laser on their toes to try and heal nail fungus? Yea sure if I'm successful I'll make an announcement here. Heat does work. The only problem is reaching 100% of the fungus. I'll give it a try. YES!!! but I am a bit of a sadist and totally...

Looking for an adjustable laser that can heat up toenails

I'd pay $1 to watch someone actually attempt this.

How quickly do laser beams lose their power as they travel?

You guys do realize the last post in this thread was from April of 2012, right?

    Can a 1w 445 nm laser lit a termite

Use a piece of magnesium for the fuse. It is easy to ignite. It burns VERY HOT. https://www.amazon.com/Laboratory-Grade-Magnesium-Ribbon-25g-Collection/dp/B0754QWRGC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=magnesium+tape&qid=1549597962&sr=8-1

Super old member passing by and saying hi.

We have lost so many good members through the years. It is always nice when someone returns. Welcome back! The colors that are easily available now were the stuff of dreams, dpss, and gas lasers back then. 488-495nm diodes are my absolute favorite right now.

    50W LPM laser

Rooster, you seem confused. Trinh is talking about a laser power meter that has a 50W maximum. And of course you can buy lasers that are 50W and even far more powerful...

Looking for most light color(white would be great) laser pointer.

Roserain, "white" lasers might not be the best solution to your problem. They are expensive and don't like water very much. There are easier and much less expensive ways to get light to the bottom of the sea. Chemical light sticks are available in many sizes and colors. They are water and...

We just need a bit more info. Help confirm your identity...

Paul, thanks for your input. It has nothing to do with anonymity. This is just about not passing my SSN out like candy on Halloween. It is about maintaining a healthy degree of security around my finances. There is no REAL necessity for them to have it. I'm not applying for credit. I have...
