Coherent Laser Diode Bar 30W-40W 808nm

CW. You can probably squish the output to a shorter line with a good quality cylinder lens, but they're not easy to find in that size

    Fog machines

Hazers are too expensive and specialized for the big box stores to sell at any reasonable rate. You only find the foggers cheaper than dirt because they're cheap to produce and can move them at volume during Halloween, then flog the leftovers for nothing to get rid of the stock

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

If you look closely on the plastic plug that goes into the remote interface connector, all the pin numbers are stamped into the plastic

Coherent Laser Diode Bar 30W-40W 808nm

As others have said focusing it results in a line. The line will burn stuff, but it's nowhere near a round dot and usable distance is less than 1 foot.

Coherent Laser Diode Bar 30W-40W 808nm

I have a 60W water cooled diode bar setup that uses a raw diode like the one mentioned by the OP I powered it using a variac, a rewound microwave oven transformer with about 10 turns of 14 gauge solid core house wire for the transformer secondary. The AC was rectified by three 25A bridge...

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

You need to jump pins 12+13 on the PSU remote interface connector. This enables light regulation mode and enables the knob on the power supply. I hate those mercury style hour meters. I only have one laser that has those that you can actually read, and it has less than 1000 hours on it. It...

    Quest for the Epic Argon

:tinfoil: Yeah I wish I could've taken a crack at the one you had, but it was a hefty drive :undecided: We'll see  No progress yet, Although I managed to wrench the bent water cooling connector from the back of the PSU. Need to get a new one at the hardware store so I can get some...

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

Yes, the PSUs in those sequencers are 120v, it says right on the PSU label if you want to double check

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

Just unscrew or chop off the old plug and get a replacement plug at your local hardware store. Alternately you can buy an extension cord and splice it in since they usually only give you like an 8" power cord in the dna sequencer power supplies.

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

Here's a video showing the laser I got out of mine, power depends on a lot of factors and you don't get full current in light mode (which is what I was using in the video) Applied Biosystems 373 DNA Sequencer Teardown - YouTube

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

Make sure the seller keeps the laser's interface cable plug, it has the interlock connections on it, the laser won't start without it plugged into the psu

Multiline Argon laser cheap! Michican, USA

I don't think there is any major difference in the units besides one having a slightly larger sample tray

Post updated with two new links - If you live near Michigan this is a fantastic deal :)

    CNI Spectrometers

The problem I had with mine is that the lines were so close together the peaks combined into one slightly wider hump, so although it had a peak in the 609nm region the multiple HeNe lines were not distinguishable. This should be doable though with a high line count grating though. You lose...

    CNI Spectrometers

That's the spectrometer I had at SELEM. I need to try finding a smaller input fiber for it to increase its resolving power. Also I changed the internal grating to allow it to cover nearly the entire visible spectrum. If you got one (a grating) with a much higher line count you could calibrate...

    Oculus Rift

I am definitely gonna get one once they announce a retail version, all the dev kits go for silly prices so I'll just wait a bit. I think these things would really take a lot of the large outdoor landscape type games to a whole new level. I know some of the initial reviews of people using them...

    Quest for the Epic Argon

Epic Argon project Log Day 1: Starting hardware: I should have enough parts to get something working. I have a dead Lexel 95 head but a good power supply and a good tube with a broken cooling jacket from a Coherent Novus. The Coherent Innova has arrived at my local hackerspace which has...

    Quest for the Epic Argon

It's been a while since I had something big to work on, but after stumbling across a new favorite seller on ebay I ended up making a trip in my Jeep. $100 and about 3 gallons of gas later- Only a teaser for now :tinfoil:

    Clueless

Unfortunately you would be hard-pressed to find a WORSE laser to spend money on. Not only (if it did actually output 5 watts) would it be unsuitable for a laser cutting/engraving machine, but it will not be likely to work at all. The laser you bought is a Coherent CR-2, a member of the...

    Neg Rep Mob Mentality

Is what is currently going on trolling? ehh maybe. Have I ever trolled Jerry directly? Yeah, my avatar is me poking fun at him. Replying to and debunking his bullshit claims that try to put down people simply for offering a competing product? If you call that trolling then we see very...
