You can't, is what he was saying. The cheap ones use thermoelectric/peltier devices with a coating, but even those need calibration. Unless you have a LPM to calibrate against, it won't read accurately.

I've tried using luxdrive buckpucks for driving diodes too, if you can hook up an opamp to swing your modulation voltage from 0-10V you can feed it directly into the buckpuck for analog modulation.
