check this out from national semicon...

I used a 10Kohm resistor ..... i was not planning to use the dimming function, cause it's not analogic, only a PWM input, but left open the possibility (and after all, one more smd resistor don't add any complication to the circuit ;)) I also tried once to use it as "soft-start" in one...

    Sound card DAC tutorial

^ cause, for an expert programmer, break a dongle protection is too easy. Not me, i'm not a programmer ..... but i know that there was a guy that in the past defeated the more strong existent dongle protection of that time in less than a week, after the company that was using it paid like...

@benmwv: for the 1.6MHz version (ends in X, opposite to the lower frequency one that ends in Y) and for 900mA, 6.8uH are probably enough, maybe at the limit (they suggest usually 10uH) ..... not for the low frequency version, that usually needs 15uH or more .....

Uhm, sorry, but i think this must be said, also if it can blow some dreams :p :D When reading datasheets and designing switching mode drivers, there are some facts that must be kept in consideration ..... First, when you read "Switching current 2.1A", it does NOT mean that the driver can do...

FS BE MEYERS Glare Mout Laser

Ofcourse yes :p This is a medium size: And this, instead, is a large size: :p :D :eg: EDIT: sorry, i forgot the old concept of "large size" :p :eg: :eg: :eg: :eg: :eg:

    Siemens LGR 7631A

Also, if you want to put them for sale in ebay, please check them first. I mean, maybe is just my impression, but in the pic, the capillar tube of the laser in the bottom looks "bent" (displaced, not in the center of the tube), opposite than in the tube at top ..... and if so, the tube is broken.

What the heck are these things?

If you have a DMM, you can use the diode test position (or the 200 ohm position) for test them ..... be sure that the pins are not short-circuited from the PCB, and check them as a normal led. The red one, in one position, will light faint in red (less than a low power red led, no problems...

What the heck are these things?

Wait, i've looked better at those pics ..... is just my impression, or they looks both flat-type ones ? The one in the left, it must be a flat-type case, cause otherwise it's impossible to fit it in that heatsink ..... the one on the right, i was thinking it was round, but looking better the...

What the heck are these things?

^ sorry, but better to test them, before discard. If you remember, old DVD burners had the IR laser in flat version, so maybe the red one can be the good one ;)

    Blacker black ¡¡¡

That seem just an upgrade of the actual treatment of the solar collector tubes ..... i mean, actually the "vacuum" type solar collector tubes, already use a surface treatment (making chemically "microcells" on the surface of the external tube) that helps in absorbing 94 to 96% of the light (for...

    IR camera

^ you're right, i said it in wrong way, sorry. The built-in illuminator was 980nm, but the CCD was not correctly filtered til the start of mid-IR range, and the internal CCD was sensitive enough for "see" partially til that limit, so the image management software was able to amplify and...

    IR camera

ROTFL That was the old Sony "nightshot" type camera with 980nm illuminators (and they also modified for prevent that, when the news was spreading out, so actually no, it don't work) Anyway, no, you was not totally "seeing through the clothes", technically speaking ..... was just that the CCD...

    Jet Boots / PSI

They already exist (google "jetpack" ;)) But is decisely better to NOT use them on a dusty ground, you see ? BNvQGkzEwKc :p :D

O-like cylindrical lens possible for 635nm diode beam correction?

^ too big ones ..... also, usually cylinder lenses have a WD of 0.5mm or less, where the chip of a normal LD is usually 1mm or more from the front of the can ..... You need a semi-cylindrical lens of approximatively 2x2mm dimensions (max 2x3mm), with broadband AR coating an a WD of 1.2 to...

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

^ well, is not too much different from some of the ones they carry on my shop saying "it stop randomly and i don't know why ....." ..... :p :D

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

^ this :p :D (or similar ones :p :D) EDIT: here the brand is better visible ;)

    Police Officer here for help.

^ Sorry, Kenom, but for those "in the barrel" units, you don't have recoil function, so a spring is not enough. That what i mean is, that those units works with the noise of the hammer/percussor that hit the "dummy bullet" in the chamber, but the weapon itself, working in that system, don't do...

WTT - 7W IR C-Mount diode, for MODC 12mm Mounts

Hm, if they are C-mount diodes, i highly doubt that you can place one of them in any 12mm host ..... you need to keep in considerstion the whole diode body, and considering that the chip is on one of the external faces, there's not too much to do, about the dimensions ..... What i mean is this...

    Police Officer here for help.

I agree with you for a RANDOM vibration switch, but this case is different ..... you need, here, to activate the laser always for a precise amount of time, and only when the trigger is pushed (or, better said, when the hammer reach its end course against the percussor), and not for any vibration...
