Is this the clean never been soldered diode with factory window? What kind of lead time are we looking at?

I would try adding a sharp optical bandpass filter corresponding to the laser wavelength in front of the detector. This should help reduce ambient noise pick-up.

Curious what the actual Fl's are of the lenses he sells? 7X is attainable with the GB lenses, dependent on how far the first lens is from the diode and the divergence out of the collimator. My guess is the actual ratio with the GB lenses on a 44 4cm away from the diode would be more than 6X...

You can get ~2mRad with a 10mm EFL lens. The FA divergence is 0 or less with a 10mm lens. at least in the first 150 feet or so. Very "bar shaped"

Few ideas for measuring current. Put a low ohm non inductive resistor (.1ohm) in series with the LD. measure the voltage across it with voltmeter. multiply the reading by 10 to get actual LD Amps. Beware some small cheap meters can't read the voltage of the source (battery) that is...

Basically what CDBEAM suggests but get the thinnest lapidary blade you can find to fit your saw. I bought a cheap saw from harbor freight and blade from ebay. Rigging a hose for flowing water directly on the glass is a big help too.

Bob, check this old thread at PL out: Freak diode. I would have saved the diode but they were like $700 each at the time. Amazing how little differences in WL make a big difference to the eye.

The G2 is a great lens. Whatever aspheric constants they used to get the profile seem to work for any diode thrown at them. The 2mm EFL's by nature are gonna have 2x the initial divergence. So will need 4x the correction to get the same power density in the far field. The real pain with the...

The "BFL" doesn't really help figure out the power of the lens. Its the EFL that's important for what we do. The G2 is 4mm EFL.

Bob you should try the sharp 700mw before you give up. They are only good for 750mw max room temp so you might need 2 pbs'd to get the color match with green diode.
