    How do I get started?

The cheaper greens you see are DPSS laser at 532nm, very different from the diodes you see DTR selling. The green diodes, at 520nm, are relatively new. Roughly 2 years ago, 532nm dpss was the only readily available green laser (outside of gas lasers on ebay). Now they are mass produced and have...

    Suggest me drivers

I would say flexdrive from illumination supply for the 808nm. A boost drive for the 405nm could work, or just get a low current x-drive.

    Dragonlasers Spartan 50mW 589nm

Wow, thank you for this thorough and illuminating review. Prior to this, I was concerned about running this laser for any substantial length of time. I will not be so concerned now.

    Old 5mw "eBay" laser questions.

No, the beam spec can't be improved that easily. You would need additional corrective optics to get better beam specs, with a hit to overall power. The high powered blues aren't the best, by far, for anything at a distance. There all multi-mode diodes.

    Where can I buy a boost or boost-buck with Vin=3.4-8V and Vout=5.8-8V?

This microboost is what I used in my builds with the Osram diodes. Unfortunately they are currently out of stock. For the oclaro red you could use a flexdrive from illumination supply. Edit: You could also try searching lpf for benboost. It's an open source boost drive, and you may even find...

    Yellow (589nm) laser 5mw 329.99 USD shipped?

I have the 50mW spartan from them. It's a nice laser, and this wavelength is hard to find this cheap. As Crazyspaz said, it is a CNI laser, just rebranded. The biggest issue i have is the very short duty cycle. 589nm just can't be stabilized properly in hosts these small. Even at 5mW, I doubt...

Joy tech eVic as a driver for 405 laser

There's a thread in the other section on vaping that has a post were someone did something similar. However, they used an m140, which is a heartier diode and may be how it worked.

Hello, it has a yellow laser pointer?

When mixing red and green to make yellow, it doesn't produce a unique wavelength. If you spectrometered said beam it would show as the red and green wavelengths. It only looks yellow to our eyes due to how our eyes perceive color.

Need help with power supply settings

Ahh, sorry about that. The only thing I can see is how you set the current and voltage. If I understand correctly, you hooked your meter to the driver and set the current/voltage. That may be the problem, as the the meter isn't an actual load. I would try using a test load. Connect the test...

Need help with power supply settings

In your pictures, you have the power supply connected to the driver output. The power supply should be connected to input, and the diode to output.

    Opinions on Current Ebola Outbreak

They SHOULD have a decontamination airlock so the last guy doesn't have to risk it. It would seem to be a good investment, as you never know when an extremely deadly pathogen may pop up. However profits are more important, so good luck to the last guy!

Amazing. Every time you post photos, they blow me away.

That's what I was wondering. Does the most skilled doffer go last?

Solar Eclipse Today - Pictures and Timelapse :)

Wow, those are some sweet shots! I'm especially surprised you didn't use a filter, yet still got such beautiful shots.

Why do you think Wicked Lasers is such a bad company?

^^ This. I'll add that, for long range burning, a 800mW - 1W 405nm is best IMO. Being single mode, the 405nm can maintain higher power density over longer distance. All that aside, it's difficult, if not impractical to burn at any real distance. Unless you have super steady hands, or don't...

Why do you think Wicked Lasers is such a bad company?

Any 445nm laser with 1W+ is going to have a line or bar instead of a dot. It is possible to use extra optics to help correct the beam, but AFAIK you can't get it into a "perfect" thin beam with circular dot. 445nm lasers with 3.5-5W use a newer diode that produces a much fatter beam and line...

I found another way to rep on mobile with chrome. Just hold the rep button down until you get the pop up, click "open in new tab". It opens the rep box as a full page with full functionality.

Are the Osram PLTB450B 1.6W 445nm Laser Diodes good at burning?

A test load is used to simulate a laser diode. The diodes on the test load should drop roughly the same voltage that the laser diode you want to use drops. The resistor is for easy current mmeasurement. Although you actually read the voltage drop across it, which is the same as the current...

    Why is stability so important?

I think that's actually for power not wavelength. DPSSL's are know for power instability, especially in portables. With lab lasers, the temperature, optics alignment, ect., can be optimized for max stability. Just like with a power increase, the extra effort to "tune" the system for extra...
