GUIDE: Which company should I buy from?

It'd be nice if we could at some point mention some reputable eb@y sellers too. I know it's hard to keep track of stuff like that, as there are a lot of fly-by-night type sellers on there. But there are a few know sellers who honestly list what they have, albeit mostly for components and...

    3W Laser 66 Build Amazing !

If it's the 9mm NDB7875, that wouldn't under spec. 2.2-2.4 amps is common on those.

Looking for an awesome laser host

Unfortunately, without commissioning someone to do a specific build for you, a "flashlight type host" is exactly what you're going to get. And with Eghemus being out, there's not many options for getting a custom built host. There's been a couple people on here mention starting to do custom...

FEELER: XPL lasers RG:yellow with single mode diodes.

Subbed... I want to see where this goes. And maybe when this is getting close to happening I'll actually have some play money by then! Either way, great idea! +rep

    Greetings from Northen Russia

Yep, I'm very familiar with their PLCs as well. I'm starting to get into ladder logic programming for Allen-Bradley and some other brands that we use.

    Greetings from Northen Russia

Welcome to the forum! I deal with some Allen-Bradley products myself. We use some of their drives in our production facility. Mostly the PowerFlex series drives.

**(SOLD!)**SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is", plus extras $40

Re: SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is", plus extras $40 (REDUCED!) Not necessarily! If it's a clean build, with commonly used parts, maybe not very difficult. Otherwise, it's much easier to start with new, clean. unmolested components.

    SciFi 445 1W Problem

Nice! Also, I'd just like to mention that those 501b hosts can be found for pretty cheap, and the internals can be swapped out pretty easy. You can pick up a different color host, swap out the module, and have a "brand new" laser!

    Windows 10 slow?

I just got my 8G ram for the laptop in the mail. So when I actually get a free day I'll be installing that, and maybe a fresh copy of Windows 10. Fingers crossed. :yh:

    DIODES on SALE!!

@lasertechgear Can't open the exact link without signing up to that 'geek' website. I do have access to a manual lathe and end mill. I actually used the lathe with the 15/32 drill bit to make sure I got the hole as centered as possible. I do have access to 12mm end mill bits also. But I tried...

    Other Hobbies of LPF

My main 2nd hobby would be automotive. I have several projects, including an '03 BMW 325i, '72 F100 short bed 2wd w/429C.I. big block, and the one I've been paying the most attention to lately, my '04 Mazdaspeed MX-5. I've done a crap load of work to this thing! Including a full Fox suspension...

    What diode should I get?

If you want to do a cheaper build, and since you don't have any yet, try a Mitsubishi 500mw diode. You can push those to just over 1W. The divergence is horrible, but it's still cool. And DTR has the diodes for $29 ea. I just ordered a diode and 1.2a driver from him, and I'm planning on sticking...

    Nubm08e

^ This basically. There's a couple of threads about these. But right now it looks like they're just not readily available yet. And some companies they claim to have them are price gouging the hell out of them to see what they can potentially get people to pay for them. Hopefully this will change...

    DIODES on SALE!!

My work just got a handful of 15/32 drill bits in, so I snagged a couple. :shhh: I don't know the brand, but they got them from Fastenal, and they seem to cut through aluminum like butter. Since these 12mm modules are actually a hair under 12mm, this bit size works perfect.

How do you store your lasers ?

Re: Where do you store your lasers? Same here. I sold a Kimber 1911 a few years ago, and the guy didn't want the case! I can fit over a half dozen smaller units in it.

New driver, laser not turning on?

Do you have a multi-meter? If you can get it laid out, and get the meter probes on the LD + and - and power it on, you can at least see if there's any voltage going through the driver. But that's about it without a test load, or a different driver/diode to swap out.

    Battery Question

Efest batteries are good. Do a search for Efest 14500 battery, in Google or even Ebay. You should be able to visually tell if it's a flat top. It just won't have the little bump on the + side.
