Carolina Biological Supply laser series, thoughts & review!

Looking at that seller's website, they have a few similar hosts to laserBTB. Several exotic wavelengths and power levels that aren't listed on Aliexpress are on there. Kinda wonder what the manufacturer direct price would be. Edit: There are some DL and CNI hosts too. I wonder if it's a...

    Bushnell TRKR 750 *Broken*

Re: Bushnell TRKR 750 *UPDATE* I'd usually be inclined to say a failing switch, but the circuitry in a light like this would probably mean something on the driver/controller side. Not sure you can really narrow it down unless you were to open it up and go through it with a meter.

Yep. They might be getting a permit soon, but there are still "cultural" issues with the site. If they don't get approval by 2018, the alt site is in the Canary Islands, but that's cause a significant delay. Honestly, I don't know why there are such huge concerns about it. It's not like the...

    Space Discussion Thread

Yeah. That thing would have been insane. I can't even imagine how much it would cost though. The 30 meter scope might also not be happening due to some strange issues. Its 13 year mission definitely produced a lot of excellent images and science. I'm really interested to see the next...

    What is going on?

Great to hear from somebody that's actually dealt with these issues! That's pretty cool of you to offer a practice laser! +rep Also, why don't you post some photos of that awesome collection in the "member collections" section? If Hap doesn't want to try aligning the Spartan, I'd like to give...

"True class 3R" would probably be better wording.

The European Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) is nearing completion to complement the nearby Very Large Telescope! We're going to get new and unprecedented views of the universe when it goes online...

Carolina Biological Supply laser series, thoughts & review!

Re: Carolina Biological Supply laser series, thoughts! Very nice Alex! I had no idea Carolina sold lasers, but I've made a few sample orders from them before. Very good company IMO. Lots of cool science education products. Definitely looking forward to some of your own photos! Edit: There...

    Android and iOS App Developers/Programmers

I made a DIY Bluetooth multimeter before they were really a thing. Nothing really fancy since it was a proof of concept, and the microcontroller I used had terrible ADCs. Actually working on another more laser-related Bluetooth project right now for Windows. :) Things get a lot easier when you...

Green laser with 2 power modes?

Survd, the laser you linked is legitimate. Pretty sure a few members on here got them a while back from laserBTB. The discussion just got overly technical. The issue is that the power level likely isn't all that reliable if you want to be certain it's eye safe. That is however, your only option...

    Android and iOS App Developers/Programmers

Haha Jerry. Sorry we missed it earlier. Must've gotten buried too quick. If you're going to do external Interfacing, you shouldn't use anything other than XCode for iOS and Android Studio (or Eclipse) for Android. Both are free. You'll have to pay to publish for iOS though. Android Studio is...

    Hurricane Irma

The Keys look devastated, and they're just starting to let people into the upper ones. Miami seems to be mostly fine. Not sure about Tampa yet, but coastal damage is there. Jacksonville got bad flooding which I guess hasn't completely cleared up. My family is all fine. Flooding was pretty minor...

    Android and iOS App Developers/Programmers

Yep. Not very easy to work with hardware on either OS. Maybe iOS is better now, but not sure. I made a USB then Bluetooth multimeter that went through a few hardware revisions just to make interfacing easier on the software side.

    What is going on?

Just keep it at least a few more months Alex! You've got to see if you can jump on the new diode bandwagon. I guess if the seller can help you, that's a different story. As for the issue, it's probably on the electrical side due to temperatures, as I said earlier, the LBO won't be helped by...

    B&W-tech Spectrometer & 473 module: Setup+Mods+Info

Re: B&Wtech 473nm unit / Spectrometer Mods & Info Just really checked this thread out. I've seen these things a lot looking at 473nm DPSS lasers, but I thought the spectro would pretty much be unserviceable. That's pretty cool that you guys found some software. Maybe they won't be too far out...

    Android and iOS App Developers/Programmers

That's what I was figuring. Interfacing is really the hard part for mobile software since the libraries aren't all that great. I've actually had an easier time with Bluetooth than USB, but Bluetooth is harder to manage on the peripheral side. I'm not sure how complex it could be made with iOS...

    Android and iOS App Developers/Programmers

Just saw this. Android, but not extremely experienced. Just made a few experimental apps for personal tools and practice. Haven't published any. Edit: I've messed with ios development once, but I no longer have a device that runs it, and I don't have a mac to run Xcode anymore. That was before...

    What is going on?

I say keep what you've got as long as it functions, and wait to see if another diode set comes out again. Now that the Laser66 hosts are back, you could easily make a more stable and powerful pen for less money. I'm sure another member could do it for you if you don't want to DIY.

    What is going on?

It could be the diode or driver then. The LBO crystal's temp range is like 10/15 C to 35/40 C. Only the diode or driver would perform better at lower temps, but the batter is always something to consider as well.

    What is going on?

Please remember me on that Paul. :D I'm probably going to miss them again if another batch reappears.
