Lasorb: Effective Distance from Laser Diode?

Time to react? Time for the Lasorb to react to the spike? Isn't the Lasorb made to react to spikes with short rise times?

Lasorb: Effective Distance from Laser Diode?

OK, thank you for the wiring tip!

    NUBM07 nominal current setting?

Just saw Jordan's video. Thank you. The Barnett G-ball adjustable lens adapter is the same thing as the de-collimator I was referring to. Seems nobody here has used it yet. I may give it a try.

ACS4500BU driver Vin = 6V-14V; will this act as a low voltage battery protector for 2 batteries in series?

excellent! ok, so I'll just get protected cells since my build is not a high-drain situation. thank you!

ACS4500BU driver Vin = 6V-14V; will this act as a low voltage battery protector for 2 batteries in series?

The protection circuit usually senses when V reaches 3V or slightly less, maybe 2.8V. I assume the protection circuit does not know whether that 3V is for that one battery alone or for the combined batteries in series. Is this understanding in error? I hope so because that would solve my...

ACS4500BU driver Vin = 6V-14V; will this act as a low voltage battery protector for 2 batteries in series?

hello all, The ACS4500BU and ACS5500BU drivers require a supply voltage (Vin) of 6V to 14V. When using two lithium batteries in series, will the 6V requirement act to shut down the driver and protect the batteries when they both reach 3V? If not, what else can be done to protect from...

    NUBM07 nominal current setting?

ok, thank you for the info. When you say running at 2.3A or 3.5A while decanned doesn't make a real difference, I assume you mean diode life will be short either way because of diode contamination. I'm going with the new unmodified diode for longer life. As for the unfocusable factory g-ball...

    NUBM07 nominal current setting?

I notice many here using 3.5A for this diode but on ebay, the specs for this diode shows a nominal setting of 2.3A and maximum of 3.5A. Does anyone know what a good safe current setting for long life is without going unnecessarily low? The difference between 2.3A and 3.5A is huge and 2.3A...

    NUGM04 525nm laser build

How about using the G-ball adjustable lens adapter at Barnett Laser products? This product also has threads to allow a G8 to be attached in front. However, there are no light output specs or beamshot comparisons to determine how well the product works.

G-Ball Adjustable Lens Adapter - Focus Fixed Lens Laser Diodes

I am interested in this product. Are there any beam output specs such as: 1) % efficiency in light output (I assume there is always a slight loss of light every time it passes through an additional medium/lens) 2) before/after photos comparing this product to the standard g-ball beam 3)...

Lasorb: Effective Distance from Laser Diode?

thank you for your response. I wonder why the Lasorb needs to be so close to the diode, as long as it intercepts a current spike anywhere before it reaches the diode? I mean, why can't the Lasorb be closer to the driver output leads instead?

ebay laser diode in "glass packaging"?

ok, thank you. What are the pros and cons to a glass window vs an open window? I assume a pro to having a glass window is preventing contamination into the inside of the diode. I assume a con to having a glass window is a decrease in power out the front? I also assume putting a lens (G2, G8...

ebay laser diode in "glass packaging"?

Some Chinese laser diode sellers have this "glass packaging" description for their diode; some sellers don't. The sellers that don't have this "glass packaging" have lower prices ( $23 vs $31 ). The following description is for an 808nm 1W laser 9mm T0-5 diode on ebay: "Because this laser is...

Aluminum Heatsink Bore for Copper Module - how much oversize should the bore be?

Yep, got the caliper. I will first measure the OD at several places and see how round it is. But first, I have to receive it in the mail, lol.

Aluminum Heatsink Bore for Copper Module - how much oversize should the bore be?

Thank you for the advice, I will wait for the copper module to get to me, then measure, and discuss with machinist and let him decide.

Aluminum Heatsink Bore for Copper Module - how much oversize should the bore be?

Sounds good. Only thing is, I am using an ebay machine shop so I prefer to get it right the first time without having to send it back or do any minor hand-sanding on my own. I suppose if the ID bore on the aluminum heatsink got too large, I can always apply copper tape on the copper module OD...

ok, thank you . Will check out JST.

Aluminum Heatsink Bore for Copper Module - how much oversize should the bore be?

hello all, In machining an aluminum heatsink with a center bore for the copper module, how much oversize should the bore ID be in relation to the OD of the copper module? For example, if the copper module is 35mm OD, what should the mating aluminum heatsink ID be? If the ID of the bore is...

Soldered Connections vs. Deans Micro RC Connectors

Some sources imply that using connectors can be risky due to coming loose, charging the caps on the driver and eventually blowing the laser diode. Should I stay away from Deans Micro connectors or are they 'safe"? Anybody have an opinion?
