    Buying Laser off of Aliexpress?

I always buy things from Aliexpress, most users told that they sell chinese crap, all you need do is know how to choose: -> First look at the product rating, that tell how happy the buyers are with the product. -> Look at the comments, you can find some good information. -> Look at the seller...

    What's up from NY!

Welcome to LPF! For you, I think the green ones are the best idea, since you don't stated for what you will use the laser. A 100mW laser will be visible at night and will do some little burning, like burn match or smoke insulation tape, and isn't too dangerous like 1W 445nm.

    Comparing the divergence at 80 feet with 445nm, 520nm, 532nm and 638nm

Good comparison, I never imagined that the 638nm will look like this compared to the others!

    DIY audio amplifier opinion

:yh: The MDF alone looks very ugly! I used to use transparent varnish, but I couldn't find it to buy.

    DIY audio amplifier opinion

Hi! :yh: Sometime ago my uncle told me that he wanna use two speakers into her computer, he asked how the connections should be done, I said that to use the full power of the speakers he will need a audio amplifier, since I like to build things and had many experiences building audio...

Do you need to wear eye protection at all times

I only use goggles when working in places with reflective surfaces or doing some burning (thing that I don't do much). Since I know the risks, I setup all carefully before turn the laser on. If I want to show my lasers to someone else, I ever go outside, shinning it to the sky or for far...

broken 400mw green not turning on, turning on randomly?

If you shake the laser while is on and suddenly it starts to work for a millisecond and then stop, it can be loosen crystals (if your laser have a IR filter then you will not notice the IR at the output) or a battery contact problem (for example, loose spring in the driver, or loose batteries...

    Violet 405 vs Green 532 a newb's perspective

Violet is also better for burning, you can play a lot with fluorescence, sometimes it will appear as a bright blue like mortuus said, because some materials are made with a compound that use UV to make it appear more white (like paper, clothes etc..).

My new 532 just stopped working.

I think this driver have only reverse polarity protection, not over tension protection, without some tests we can only guess what happened, but without sure. You should test the driver to see if it still OK, use a dummy/test load to check, if the driver didn't work, then you have a small chance...

Who wants a variable power laser?

Hi! :yh: In my 450nm laser I included a switch that can set the driver to 1,2A (1W) or 300mA (almost in the lasing threshold), this helps a lot, because I don't want 1W all the time! When I need a real variable power I control the input voltage of the driver, for example, if you have a 450nm...

    Red Diodes, power and efficiency

If you don't need to collimate the beam in a single point, I think you will not loose much power, but since is more one obstacle between the LD and the lens, remove it will only improve the things. Is hard to guess, it will dislocate some power and put in a vertical line, the power density...

I'm happy to help you! :yh: You're correct! This is the way China works! Don't forget to keep your host/driver for future use, it can be very helpful!
