have you tried removing the strike rail if its easy to do? how is your coupling?

can you remove primary capacitance easily? Only other way is to remove topload capacitance via changing the toroid, try your onetesla toroid?

that circuit rhd and djQUAN did works nicely, just simulated it on a program, i put a 10k resistor in series with a 100k pot so the pulse can be set from 110ms to 1.1seconds and if the trigger is held closed it doesnt trigger again or stay on!
