You forgot to tell us the company name.

You should match the diode Vf + some extra voltage for the 1 ohm resistor. Don't forget that ;) Try measuring the Vf of all the 6 diodes and sum'ng it. If the S06J takes 6v @ 400mA, the voltage drop on the diodes should be 5.6V, plus the 400mV (1mA = 1mV) over the resistor, totalling 6V flowing...

If you remove the collimator lens from a laser, it will behave as a coherent light flashlight. edit: depending on laser power / diode cavity type, it may have one "stripe" of light, or multiple "stripes". You should never post on threads that old... introduce yourself in the welcome thread. And...

I agree with Trevor. Anyways, I didn't mean a Step-up converter alone would suffice. You need a 9+9, not only a boosted voltage. You would need to build extra circuitry, including noise reduction on the power lines (dunno how to say that in english :thinking), etc.

With small effort, you can build a 9+9 PSU for your ophir. It could look kinda professional and AC mains powered. A ebay Step-up driver is an option, too. ;)

That thing about the heat trapped in the core isn't a true statement. My aurora SH032 has a copper HS and it goes >60ºc when the out is still barely warm. My Solarforce L2P host heats evenly with the Al HS. The host transferring heat is not totally related with the heatsink material.
