Does anybody know why my laser suddenly started changing shapes??? And how to fix it??? EDIT: I pulled off cap today and I don't know what to do next.

That lens tube you see will screw out, IF you can get the glue off of it. You may not even be able to see the problem from there. Go any further than that and it's press fit and glue all the way in. I tried gutting a couple of hosts like that, and you know what I ended up doing? I split the...

Our toys being taxed? Terrible tariffs!

Hmmm ..most every good you can get from China, can also be had in its USA counterpart. But then I guess you don't get the crappy Chinese QC, or the knockoffs.

Our toys being taxed? Terrible tariffs!

That would be Business to Consumer trade, not Business to Business. B2B will be the trade that gets hit by the new tarriff.

    Massive power and cooling capability...

This Rolls-Royce system can deliver 300 kilowatts of power and 200 kilowatts of cooling, in a very small package. https://www.defensenews.com/industry/2019/05/10/rolls-royce-unveils-hybrid-power-system-for-laser-weapons/

    Post your random pics!

This is a 3,000 amp service switch. The bolt got a little hot. I think the others were not torqued well and that one was carrying most of the load. If you look at all the other bolts, they have a black mark on them. That's what Sparkies do after we torque one. The three on the blade with the red...

Lithiums aren't going away for a good long time. Everyone's working on improving their power density, and no one wants to re-tool their factories just yet, I'm sure. https://www.androidauthority.com/solid-state-battery-978899/amp/

Interesting facility on satellite image in China

I remember that program well. And at the time, yes, total wet dream. But, tracking technology and laser power have come a long way since the 80's. Of course, I'm not privy to the technical aspects of current tracking systems, but from the tests of aircraft tracking that have been made public, I...

Interesting facility on satellite image in China

https://freebeacon.com/national-security/satellite-photos-show-chinese-anti-satellite-laser-base/amp/ Not sure what to make of this. I have to wonder how they get that this is a laser installation, unless they've actually seen them fire. Interesting installation none the less. -G

    Help with Mits P73 isolation

Does this diode need to be isolated from a case-neg host? It's in a module from Jordan. If yes, would the same apply for a case-pos host? I don't want to install this until I find out for sure. Thanks, -G

    NUBM07 on ACS5500BU driver...

Thanks for chiming in, Jordan. And everyone else! Sagging batteries did, indeed, turn out to be the culprit. I hooked up a fresh pair straight out of the box and problem solved. Funny, I didn't realize the other 07E (on SXD) I ran with these batts was running sans regulation most of the time...

    NUBM07 on ACS5500BU driver...

This is from a cold start, so shouldn't be a heat issue. The batteries read 8.11v unloaded. They're relatively new bats, but I suppose it's possible they're sagging that far. I'll hook it up to the PSU when I get home from work and see if that's the issue.
