So I was playing with my great little 300mw red laser off ebay. Of course then I had to point it in a mirror and try to align the beams. The moment I did the diode went down to a faint glow.
Did I kill it?
Ebay is full of Chinese cosmetic laser machines which claim extremely high total laser power for surprisingly cheap.
For instance the machine linked below features 44 160mw diodes for a total of over 7 watts of laser power. I happen to know the manufacturer is quite huge and somewhat...
Thanks for the response.
I suppose my question is what model of LPM would provide such high frequency (nanosecond) resolution as well as being able to resolve maximum power.
I get the feeling it is just a matter of trusting the seller.
Some medical lasers are being marketed at superpulsed, for instance with a 20 watt peak power but average power of only 20 mw.
Duty cycle % is less than %0.1 (1/1000 or less).
How in the hell would you ever go about measuring one of these things?
Pulse frequency is 30000 Hz.
Funny I noticed this same laser (SD-301) being advertised as 5000mw here:

Did you get a reading on it?
I've been looking on Aliexpress and seeing ridiculously cheap high power laser pointers such as this:
Free shipping 660nm 5000MW High power RED Laser Pointer Strike a match-in Laser Pointers from Office & School Supplies on Aliexpress.com
Is this a total scam?
Even a 1000mw pointer at this...
Thanks guys I know 808nm is almost invisible, but it's not.
Besides like I said it works when I press the endcap in.
It's easy to see the laser when I get it to work.
Now it's mentioned it makes me wonder if they sent a lower frequency labelled as 808nm.
The one they sent me looks exactly like...
I purchased a Firedragon 200mw 808nm pointer from thelaserfans.com.
I didn't get any payment confirmation or email so I contacted them a few times to see if they received my order. No reply.
After a few weeks it arrived.
I was very happy to try it out.
The batteries that came with it was...
