Hi forum,
I just finished mounting the mother of all red diodes. It is a custom-manufactured 635nm laser diode with an output power of perhaps 10 watts or more. Its lasing threshold is a whopping 4.5A, yet my power supply is only capable of 9. I'm sure it could handle at least 15. :-)

Title says it all, looking for a >2A boost converter I can jam into a Kryton Groove host.
Quite tired of these lame half-sized lithium ion batteries :-)
Hi forum;
I recently got my hands on quite a large red laser diode. I am not sure how powerful it is, /several watts at the very least/, but, the threshold current is 4.5A, and my power supply can only do 5 :-)

Nonetheless, I have noticed a very strange characteristic with...
Hi Forum,
If anyone has one of these lenses handy, would you be able to tell me what the diameter of it is?

Thank you!
Wow,
I gave her enough current to reach thermal equilibrium, and it's tem00. This has to be the most beautiful piece of laser+mems engineering I've ever seen.

@lazerman121, if you are referring to the first laser system, then sure. I repaired the bond wire with a blob of solder, and that got it lasing again. Though it's not as pretty as a pristine module -_-
Anywhoo, I have some bad news for y'all. The laser projection module does not produce a...
Found the sled in the scrap bin!
@Trendkilla254, PM me your address and I'll toss it in an envelope for a few bucks on venmo, and drop it at the post office next time I make it down to mountain view (may be a few days, my electronics lab is at home and I'm self employed) :-)
New sled arrived...
Hi all,
Has anyone by chance, seen this model thermopile? If so, have you any idea who made it? it is very nondescript.
Two machine threads are drilled into the bottom of this aluminum block. (not pictured).

I did forget to resize, though that was the least of my worries last night as I did screw up the bond wires.
Though, now I know how to make this puppy sing, I should be able to get a white laser beam out of it. On the last unit, I made the mistake of removing a mirror, hoping to bypass the...
Bam.
The laser diode is quite substantial; it would not lase until 300mA. I'm not sure how far it can be pushed...
The second set of leads were a little heater for the titanyl phosphate crystal.
It looks like I'll need to build a photodiode + derivative controller to keep the power steady...
