help me with the basics

Laser noob here and I am thinking of ordering seperate parts and whatnot to build my own laser --- it'd be cheaper + want higher wattage than the 1w legal limit over here. Don't know what parts I even need besides a diode.

So, it would be great if you guys could help me.

Probably better to start of with something less powerful, I know that isn't what anyone wants to hear but seriously a 1W laser + laser noob isn't always the makings of a happy story.

There are a lot of great kits for sale on this very site at excellent prices, that would probably be the best place to start as you'll get all the parts, and the experience of the people on the forum if you have any issues while building your laser.

Above all else always use the correct laser safety glasses for your laser, you only get one set of eyes and a high power laser does not respect that fact so you should.

Yes, I will start small. I don't know what parts i would need to make a laser pointer though? Or what parts are compatible with eachother too.
