How to build a laser from a DVD/CD burner

Im going to attempt building a laser from scrap, i heard that from the parts out of a CD/DVD drive are sufficient for a mild IR laser. If anyone could point me in the direction of any tutorials or instructions from links or anything i would be very grateful. Thankyou.

It's no different than any laser build with disc drive laser diodes, for which there are many tutorials on the forum you can search through. Even the red laser lens would probably allow you to focus it.

Yeah I've heard of a couple of people who use the red lens for IR builds. It should work fine.
