LOL! Yes of course, but call me crazy, I like for even my "non" functional things like lasers... to serve some kind of standalone function really well.

Everything that gun does, a .22 or even a bb gun can do better...

Does that make any sense or did I just qualify myself for the looney bin?:tinfoil:

Oorah!
I agree that a air gun would be worlds better than something like this but come on. I think I have a new motto now and that is: If you can do it with lasers it's always better.

I still think that gun is pretty cool. Not practical, but that wasn't the point.

On a second note...Pump action BB/pellet guns are major fun....and cheap.

It's a tool, not a weapon. It ain't a weapon until you use it as one. Be it a rock, a stick, a M-79, or a 2.2 GW attached to your Flux-Capacitor driven Deloren, It ain't gonna do ya no good, unless you know how to use it when you have to.
Didn't the Corps teach you anything, grunt?
Don't have a lot of use for burner lasers, but it sure is a cool lookin toy, don't 'cha think?

Um...it isn't a tool OR a weapon. I'd classify it as a gadget. Yes it's leaning towards weapon, but i'd still call it a gadget or tech toy.

WE do not use lasers for weapons, sure you could blind somebody, but your not going to slice them in half. The military uses lasers as weapons

First off I am a POG not a grunt heh. 2ndly I should clarify I seem to have stirred the ants nest with the word: weapon. To be more accurate it would be fun to create something with the FANTASY of it being a viable weapon.
Am I going to take my KA-BAR to a bar and just start gutting people, ofc I am not but would I still like to try and make a knife that could rival a KA-BAR?
Yes I would. Same could be said for lasers would I ever use it on a person, no I would not but would I want to push myself to make something for the hell of it? Yes.

In my decrepit ole mind, they are tools (and sometimes toys). I use mine mostly for star pointers and telescope alignment, but I have built three or four that burn. As I said, I ain't got much use for burners, and they are usually too bright to be used when star gazing, but those 405nm's sure are pretty shining up in the sky. IMHO, it is pretty dumb to think of lasers, at the powers we make, as weapons. That is NOT to say that they are not capable of being dangerous if used carelessly. But, anyone who thinks of a 1 Watt a-140 as a weapon should familiarize themselves with the concept of 'bringing a knife to a gunfight'. Be SAFE and have fun.

No offense intended, Marine. And, there ain't nothin, in the fighting knife world, that rivals a good, original, K-Bar. But your spirit is to be commended! Always strive to be, or to make, Better!

My 445 is a tool, and a tech toy. I've used it to put a hole through something so I didn't need small scissors, I've de-soldered with it, and I've killed a couple annoying bugs with it.
