My Spartan 1W was DOA. Never worked at all. I correctly put in the batteries negative end first and positive end towards the tailcap. No beam at all.

I returned the laser, paying for my own postage. Dragonlasers found my laser to be defective and refunded me only the price of the laser, not the $35 that they charged for their shipping, which took 3 weeks.

I have heard really good things about Dragonlasers and that's the reason I bought from them. Now I'm out $50 from shipping costs and without a working laser from them.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY FROM DRAGONLASERS.

I'm very happy with my 445nm purchase from yobresal and 2 builds from DTR.

Why didn't they replace the laser rather than refund the money?

At that time I was pretty frustrated with the whole waiting game. I waited about 3 months for the Arctic and couldn't wait any longer so I canceled it. Then I had to wait about 4 weeks for DL to even ship out my laser, and another 3 weeks for it in the mail. When I found out my laser was DOA from DL, I bought the 445nm laser built by yobresal. I ordered it, he shipped it out the next day, and it was in my hands the day after that. I just told DL to refund my money instead of getting a replacement.

There are no pros that the Spartan has over yobresal's or DTR's builds. The Spartan is too big, heavy, and not focusable. I have also heard that condensation seems to be a problem. Maybe other people have been lucky with the Spartan, but not me.

I have had some pretty great experiences with DL in the past and would/do recommend them to alot of people, I had to wait an unexpectedly long time for my viper to ship out last year and when I sent an email to frank about it, the laser was shipped a few days later by TNT express, it arrived 4 days later, and substantially overspec.

But that was way before this 445nm crap came out and changed almost everything about this hobby, wouldnt surprise me at all if the QC went down the tubes, especially with the 447s. Basically there are cheap 1W+/- diodes combined with cheap builds put out as quick as possible to turn a buck, and every 'laser company' wants in on the gravy train.

You made a smart choice though, IMO the best quality 445nm builds around today are made by members of this forum...
