In light of the fact that the project just got rediscovered, I've actually dug out EF's PM to me full of suggestions and am working through them. That is among them I believe.

You mustn't resize the label but change the dpi of the label. Something around 300dpi is good.
If you resize the amount of pixels will reduce.

Since this thread got bumped I may's well ask what are you guys printing these on? I've seen people mention foil labels but nobody's ever said which ones.

I print the label on my 9600dpi Canon iP5000 printer with glossy photopaper. Then I split the photopaper with glossy on one side and normal paper on other side to make the label less thick. Attach it to double-sided tape. Cut it out and paste to the laser.

Very professional looking
