Biggest ebay rip off?

I don't think it's really less than 5mW, because of the duty cycle he mentions. He's probably writing that to avoid ebay rules. Not that that makes it less of a rip-off.

I thought Wicked Lasers was overpriced :undecided:...
but this?

Anyway, it's still a pen type unit ..... also if it's a true, filtered 200mW, do you think it worth 1500$ ? .....

hm, ok, maybe a true, filtered, SINGLE-MODE 200mW green ..... naah, too high also for that :p :D

OMG:eek:Actually someone bought one for 150$(click the 1 sold link on the history).it's a pity that actually some people with no experience in lasers got scammed with ebay sellers that sells overpriced 5mW units claimed to be the most powerful green lasers on the market.

The pointer being sold:

Is not the same one he's pointing:

FAIL

That white laser looks like the green pen styles that SkyLasers once sold.

About an hour ago I sent the Seller this message....

Are you completely out of your mind????
$1500.00 for a $10.00 <5mW Laser...

BTW.... <5mW will burn absolutely nothing...
False advertising perhaps ??????

He just responded with....

I put wrong price. The real price is $150 and this is 200mW laser

Wow! :O

I'm almost tempted to get my granny's old dentures and try to sell 'em on ebay saying they were George Washington's...

Like the old P.T. Barnum saying says... :(

It looks like a fairly ordinary dx/kai/ledshoppe pointer, generic 2 aaa powered greeny. If it actually is a 200 mW 'rated' model for $150, i suppose its not the worst deal ever.

I dont really buy it though: Perhaps its listed with this rediculous price tag, to lure in people that believe something so expensive must be something very extraordinary.

Makes me think of the gainclone amplifiers: Sold for several thousand dollars each to audiophiles, costing less than $100 to build. That did perform up to spec, but i doubt it would have been as great a succes if it had a reasonable price of $200 or less.

i don't believe it either. why wouldn't he have just edited the auction?

Indeed, such typos can be corrected on ebay.

I suppose there IS a market for this kind of thing. There are people that believe a laser that can light a match or cigarette actually is something very extraordinary, and hence justify a cost of thousands of dollars.

Some online research would clearly resolve that, but not everyone does that.

In the arab world there is a nice proverb on this: "any price that both seller and buyer agree on is fair". As long as both know what the product will and will not do, i intend to concur. If you want best value as a buyer, you should inform yourself before purchasing.

Not everyone is up to speed on what affordable lasers can do these days. I've seen friends completely amazed by a simple red laser that ignites a match, cuts tape or lights a removed. Some even outright decline the concept that i can build something like that out of a dvd burner and a couple of low cost components.

Personally i'm not inclined to then sell the unit at some astronomical price, but i'm sure i could have on several occasions. I just enjoy seeing the amazed look on peoples faces when setting off a match with no more than a diode in an aixiz module. $25 in parts, priceless amazement ;p
