Quick LPC-815 question.

I have the diode out of the sled but its still attached to the metal casing.

1) Do I twist and break the metal casing as with the PHR's ????

2) What is the pinout. Is it the same a closed can ???

EDIT: Ok, got it out. Did a search and found Mohrenberg's method. Thanks!!!

Do you happen to know if the closed can diode used in the dilda has the same pinout as the lpc-815 ?
 
It worked but I think I killed the diode.

I replaced the dead diode from my dilda laser.

The lpc is glowing a faint red.

Perhaps it is the driver though.

check the current on the driver,
this is annoying i was trying to build a pocketpal with LPC and both two times the diode led'd.i think im gonna buy a complete module from Mohrenberg.

Yea, I think the diode is dead. Not sure why.

I was able to extract it / replace it effortlessly.

Perhaps its the dilda driver which is the issue. Too bad I don't have a lpc test load.

I tested the lpc with a rkcstr I had lying around. Didn't work.


I'll just order 2 more LPC and use the rkcstr this time.
 
While we're talking about LPC-815, I've got also got a quick question which isn't worthy of its own thread: is LPC-815 650nm or 660nm?

650nm. I do believe it can vary a few nm + or - though.
 
I never adjusted the pot on the dilda driver.

I'll grab a meter and check the current...

AFAIK they're 650nm but with tolerance ranges. The thing is that the tolerances are most probably going to go UP. That means it could be like 650nm +10nm -2nm

I've never heard of anybody that got a shorter wavelength LPC-815.

I've got my sister video camera, i am going to post a video tutorial for harvesting within the next couple of days. I'm going to make a bunch of short video tutorials for all the basic stuff...so from now on any new diode i get i'm going to film harvesting it...so people can have an idea of how to go about it. i also plan on doing the tutorials on the driver assemblies, and anything else i can think of.
