Re: 250mw Green RPL

Opto coined the term, and lots of people use it now. So it's quite possible he thought it was an RPL, because, technically, it is, just not one from Viasho, as far as we know.

Re: 250mw Green RPL

You know what, the way yo usaid "O-like RPL" got me thinking. Do most people refer to them this way? Because his thread never said "Optotronics RPL", it just said, "RPL". I just assumed it was Opto because RPL is the name of their models.

Some people call it O-like RPL because it look like the Opto RPL
i think you should ask the seller
the beam looks great in your "RPL" the o-like one has crappy divergence like 2.5-3.0mRad

Re: 250mw Green RPL

The old Opto RPL was known as the PPL and it took two C batteries. So i think its safe to say that it is not a PPL. As long as your happy with it :) Measure the divergance, O-like has really crappy divergance, Opto has about 1mrad or less.

I'm not exactly sure how to measure divergance, I'll have to search around the forums and find out. I'll let you know if I do.

Re: 250mw Green RPL

I took the head off, and I found that there is a little portion of glue that sticks out past the edge of the lens. Of course this glue is on the inside of the lens, and not easily accessible. There's no way I'm going to attempt taking the lens off, for risk of damaging the lens. I guess I'll have to live with it. Here is a pic (you can see the glue on the left on the other side of the lens):

Hey Bryce, I must say you did get a nice deal on that laser. Not a bad deal on the blue RPL you will be receiving either. You may want to charge the batteries I sent you. I didnt have time to charge them.

I got a nice Sanyo 18650 ready for it! Do you happen to know what time you sent it Thursday? I might even get it tomorrow, that'd be awesome!

Re: 250mw Green RPL

wow your the one that scored the 70 mw 473 :worthy:

Sure did. I'm really excited, however I don't expect to get more than 25-30mw of blue after reading his previous thread on it.

BTW Original post updated with new night beamshots!

Re: 250mw Green RPL

As I mentioned on IRC, a defect on the lens has the possibility of causing reflection back into the cavity. However, a chip in the lens would probably be much worse than this; the glue probably won't do anything.

I think it would be possible to take the lens off, but in order to put it back on, you would need to clean off all the existing glue and find the same kind that will adhere to the glass and the metal... not an easy task, I imagine. You could also buy a new lens and try to replace the old one with it, but that wouldn't be that simple either.

The artifact isn't coming from the shutter slide, I powered it on without it attached, and the artifact remains. It's coming from the glue that is sticking out in the view of the lens a little bit. Thanks for the info jwc, but I'm not comfortable changing that lens myself. I could think of someone...but I don't wanna bug him :) I'll have to live with it.

There will be many a video, but I might have to wait till after Wednesday to do them. I have a lot of crap due Wednesday, and I'm falling behind. Pics will be up right away though. It's going to be here later today!!!!!!!! I just hope someone is home when it comes...
