Been out of the hobby for several years now but after firing up a few of my old ones I decided I may want to hop back in :)

I'm looking at an LPM in the < $200 range, most people have seemed to recommend Laserbee or Hyperion. Hyperion seems to have stopped selling, so I'm guessing it would be just Laserbee then?

Does the Laserbee AX come with the sensor/thermophile or is that offered somewhere else?

Hi,
Get the AX3 = 5.2 Watts for 50.00 more and yes it comes with a thermopile made by laser bee . You cant go wrong. You might want a more powerful LPM in the future.

$50 more? The website has it listed at $139.99 for the ax and $259.99 for the ax3. If it is only $50 more then I will definitely spring for the higher end one.

Here If you want an actual quality meter, lowball the seller for 200 ish, it has been up for a long time so he will most likely accept. This gentec eo unit is simply way out of the rank of any 'hobby' grade meter with a 5 digit resolution and per wavelength calibration. Also have the PC software for it since I own the same unit, can send it over if you want. For me at least It has been proven to be an exceptional meter and I will highly recommend it over any laserbee. Also, the response time with anticipation turned on is much lower than the laserbee RTA and with the sensor it comes with you can measure up to 30w and the meter can also measure both laser power and energy if you ever go for such a project when you need to measure energy (I.E a DIY TEA laser). The coating on the sensor has a damage threshold of 100kw/cm so no need to worry about damaging it. Also, the sensor is still fully supported by the manufacturer and you can even request your personal per wavelength calibration certificate from them. Here's the page to the sensor https://www.gentec-eo.com/products/up19k-15s-w5-d0

In summary, you better get this meter, it won't let you down and it will perform heaps above everything else.
PS here's mine with a 10w head of an older model.

Yes apparently I did haha just saw they accepted my second offer and it should be here in march from Germany...
Very nice! I can't recommend it enough, here are some measurements I took yesterday of my 484nm build. Turns out I may just have lucked out on the diode more than I thought, along with my boost driver it's extremely stable even on a period of 1 min. (I am using the PS310WBv2 10w head with a 100uW noise floor, which with minimal thermal insulation aka the cardboard box drops to 50uW)

Yeah, I can't wait! I've been experimenting with lasers since I was like 14 but now that I'm old enough to actually have an income I can get the fun equipment.

It came in the mail today looking like it's been through world war III but its a super cool piece of tech!
Been testing my lasers and seems to be about right as far as I can tell, now I just have to get proper batteries instead of those ultrafire/housefire batteries and see what my lasers can really do

Nice! FYI there is a high res option under the control tab!
