Here is a laser driver I have reverse engineered. Works great with my 1.6W nichia laser diodes.

Not sure if these are constant current however, although the current seems stable when driving a diode, I'm not sure if that's due to the driver regulating or due to the diode having good heatsinking.

That driver is a constant voltage ic with overcurrent protection, aka they are using the overcurrent protection as a pseudo CC test point, I'd expect the current ripple on the output to be massive though since that OC is on the input side, hence no shunt on the output node, just the divider for CV.

This board has been working for years on three different lasers (405,445,488nm), although I could not fully understand the current limiting logic. No voltage ripple is visible on the oscilloscope. The set current is kept stable. You can reduce the current to 100 ma and raise the voltage (488 nm from Sharp) if the resistor R2 is changed to 11 k. I don’t like the variable resistor, it’s better to solder it and replace it with two constant ones.
No, voltage ripple says nothing, What v/div, triggering settings what scope ect, current ripple is what you need to measure.
