A lot of bad news from Italy

Here in Italy seems to be at the center of the classical catastrophist movie made in USA, it is a real nightmare.
I never imagined I would experience such an event so terrible in my life!
We are not allowed to go out home until 3 April (for a total of 21 days!),
but it looks that our politicians want us to stay home much longer.
I'm afraid that people, accustomed to freedom of movement, can go crazy at any moment
(and there are already the first signs!).
We are allowed to exit from home only to buy food and medicinals, but only every four days!
Only the people that works in a company are allowed to exit from home.
All the stores are closed except food supply, pharmacies, tobacconists and hardware stores.
And to make matters worse, the situation seems to get worse day by day.
With this excuse, the bad corrupt european politicians are taking away our freedom drop by drop
in small homeopathic doses, every day.
If ever this emergency ends, the world as we remember it will never be the same again.
The economy of Italy is about to be totally destroyed.

These aren't the only bad news from here.
My business, already strongly proven for the crisis, is in total collapse.
I am one step away from bankruptcy.
And like me, many other people.
We, Italy, will be the new Greece, by those bastards who rule Europe.

I have the bare minimum to survive, but I don't know how long.
In a short time, I will be disconnected from all household utilities, such as water, gas, electricity and telephone
And to make matters worse, a few months ago I developed an untreatable esophageal cancer.
I'm sorry to give you this bad news, but it seems that my life is turning to the end in the worst way.

Richard.

If the US continues to infight, it too will also end up being completely decimated as well. A collapse this size would put an end to the global economy as we know it and usher in a new great depression.

The Italian situation is beyond horrific.

Yes I know we are on the preface of exponential spread and a real disaster that will mean a drastic change in everyone's lives for the foreseeable future, this virus has to be stalled now and we will still see higher numbers of infected and dead in the weeks ahead, now is the time for everyone to do their part, stay home, avoid spread, take all precautions. I expect banks will be ordered to give all debtors a time out on home, auto, credit payments until the nation goes back to work so stay home.

I am truly sorry you are facing this, Richard. It is a total change to everyone's lives in many parts of Italy. If people don't find a way to isolate in place and continue to survive many more people will die there. Some physicians who have looked at the way Italy has gone after this only halfheartedly have said that the isolation has been too "lax". It is too bad we lost so much time here before this was taken seriously. It will be out-of-control here soon enough.

Yes, Italy had the greatest reported one day death rate yesterday at 793. I wouldn't hold my breath on this being over early, though.

This is also having a big impact on every nations medical system, Richard has untreatable esophageal cancer which I wonder if not for this COVID19 crisis would his national healthcare system have more resources to try and save him, even if there was only a small chance but during this crisis I would think they might turn away difficult cases to ration their capacity.........this will also hurt people with regular medical needs, I saw where they have parked our medical ship USNS Comfort to deal with regular medical patients as hospitals are going to be full of COVID19 patients. Now is not a good time to wreak your motorcycle or injure a hand working on a project, everyone needs to keep this in mind.

Richard I hope you can get all the medical care you need and I hope you can survive well or at least as well as is possible.

Richard I have really enjoyed everything you have shared over the years and I hate hearing about people getting cancer, too many people get some form of cancer and although treatment has improved it's still something that will effect 40% of us in our lifetime and kill 20% of us all in our lifetime. I wish we were devoting more recourses and efforts towards our health/longevity than spending what we do on all the worlds wars and fighting but I do understand the necessity, however all the government waste could sure be used to extend the length and quality of human life and one day we will be able to analyze and cure a new virus in real time, but for now we all need to do our part and insist our governments stay focused rather than fighting over a dam phone call and wrestling over who is in power and who gets to steal and squander because the real costs is the quality of our lives.

It would truly be great IF the USS Comfort were on its way to help anyone. But, it is docked for repairs and has no crew. That was just wishful thinking, unfortunately.

Edit: watched a painful news conference where Trump rambled for 90 minutes about things that have nothing to do with this virus or its containment. He did, however, say the USS Comfort would be leaving its port in 3-4 weeks headed for NYC. I believe the take away is look at what actually happens and not what he says.

I said USNS COMFORT but I meant MERCY, the USNS MERCY is loading up right now, comfort will be under way asap.
Mercy is headed to Seattle where there are a great number of cases, where junkies live in sidewalk tents and liter the streets with filth and medieval diseases are coming back because of failed liberal policy.
Comfort will be going to New York, 2 liberal cities hard hit, 2 liberal cities that make up half of the US cases of COVID19....... at least you can't say Trump wants liberals to die but I'm sure you will try somehow.

Your statement sounds awful nonchalant and to reference holding ones breath where people are literally gasping to death seems like a Freudian slip..........I know you wrongfully blame Trump and want to see a big toll but this.........

I bought an oxygen concentrator on ebay from an established seller but not a top seller and got a syringe looking thing instead, turns out he sold 352 of these 300.00 oxygen machines and people are now complaining they got trinkets instead, potentially a 100,000 dollar scam and he likely has several accounts doing this.

Two of the industrial respirator masks I bought never came and I had to get refunded through ebay, also 50 cent n-95 masks are selling for 20 dollars each and up, luckily I bought some early and I gave some to my pharmacist so he could feel more comfortable at work.

Seems like a crisis brings out the best and the worst of people.

I really want Trump to succeed in getting a handle on this epidemic, but he seems to fall back into his old predilections of gloating on Romney being in quarantine even though his wife has medical problems and he is over 70 himself and going off on a tangent about how many billions of dollars being president has cost him. This while most Americans are worried how they are going to make next months rent payments. Maybe he'll change. I hope so.

I also replied there.

This is pertinent here, though. Last week Trump told people that Chloroquine had been approved by the FDA for use with covid19. Today, 3 Nigerians acting on this advice overdosed on this drug. Words have consequences! The FDA had to walk that back the same day as this has NOT been approved for that purpose.
