Hello All,

Newbie here so please bare with me as I’m trying to comprehend the aspects and characteristics of lasers.

I am a construction worker, and would like to make a double sided( beam projects left & right of unit) green line laser pen. Ideally I would like to have the laser line be visible 10’ in daylight in either direction however would settle on 5’...

Is there someone that can point me in the direction if something like this exists or would be willing to assist and or build myself said unit? I would like unit to be no larger than a mini maglite if possible

Thank You

AixiZ here in Houston sell the lens that makes a line as well as others.
You may need more than what a cheap(est_ pen laser can do.

Not a lot more $$ but its not as easy to making a line with a pen size laser.
I will hit you back w/link to a module tkat comes with a line lens that can be removed to go back to a dot--easy.

Thank you! I am not opposed to a bigger unit as long as it can fit inside a pants pocket....

This is doable, but just a cheap pointer with a line lens won't be visible at 10 feet in broad daylight. Also, anything that is going to be in your pocket needs a lens cover to keep lint and debris off of it.

What can be visible at 10’? As well as staying within a reasonable size? I only referenced the pen as an example... As long as it can go in pocket I’m good with whatever

I think you will need at least 200 mW of 520nm, 532nm or 505nm green. Might take even more. The problem here is you are competing with sunlight and a line lens distributes the power over the entire line. Since you are wanting a line, instead of a dot, you will need more power than what would be necessary to see only a dot.

I too need a Green laser with a LINE lens for outdoor/bright sunlight viewing. What is the minimum power laser I could use to accomplish this and where might I buy one?

Thanks!!

You didn't specify the working distance.

The laser will be mounted on a rail about 34" above the ground and shine down at a 45 degree angle and draw a line about 10 feet long. So the working distance would be less than 15 feet I suppose. I haven't actually done the math to work out the exact specs.

You missed the part were he writes this laser projects from both ends.

This double output laser is gonna cost more than $$ as hakzaw suggested. And bigger than a mini mag I would think.

My request is different from the original post author. I don't need a double-ended laser. Just a laser pointer style with a LINE lens. My concern is the power level needed to be seen in broad daylight. I'm hoping I can drive a powerful enough laser with just 5VDC. Anyone know where I can find a laser to fulfill this requirement?

Traxxtar, we can better assist you if you tell us what you're trying to accomplish, rather than throw around specifications. What are you doing, and why?
