so what wavelength are these xcubes good for combining? 638/520/460 ? that would be nice. easy alignment. Do they hold polarization so you can do two sets and pbs the result?

That may be true-- correct me if I have this wrong.. & remember
Alan is all new to this in spite of what he put in his "about me"
-- These cubes (or kubes) are RGB or X-cubes. NOT actually PBS- (Alan is changing that) PBS cubes come in at least 3 wavelengths --this for combing two reds. a blue & a 405--a 520 and a 532 BUT not so good for making magenta- yellow- teal - or a great 'white'- look at the PBS cubes at Opt ... R -G B..
afaik Alan can get the PBS- the few we found for combo 44s are PBS cubes for 450nm high power..
-CONDITION-- again I am no optics expert-- BUT visually- with a loupe- on the two 18mm ones I already have the edges , the corners and all surfaces look-- to me anyway-- flawless. & they are indeed polished on the bottom & top. IMO that makes better pics when done from above.. the frosted glass look is not there.
the 25mm ones are not 6 sides polished BUT I had to jump on the BIN --less than $6 -- even with some chips etc- that is a cheap prism.. 'Very Slight' is a 'grade' of cubes that did not pass QC. its IMHO same as 'near=perfect' .
Certainly good enough for me..
(pss don't tell anyone --Ok)
for me anyway shipping to Texas has been around 12 to 14 days. overpacked - had to break out the box cutter-- one thing about that overkill packing-- it leaves a good impression.. and 'could' make the package look a little TOO hard to open- inspect- and reclose.. who knows.. but both came double boxed like that.. I would rather get stuff like that than a single thin ass bubble envelope with very little protection..

any help- tips etc- fatherly advise-- whatever-- watch his back.. good person.. new to forums too... so --thanx :)

XXXXXXXXXX combining posts- move along... nothing to see here!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

pardon the double--will edit later-
after re-reading all that.. I am thinking (and no real reason I have not just shot 3 pointers thu one here- take pic.. sry-- I will on sunday promise..)
what may be more correct.. his X Kubes (so far) would not be the kind one uses to combine same or near same nm.. those would be PBS ..right? I know a white LED light nicely splits the colors down to RGB. so stands to reason a RGB sled would have its RG & B split.. or putting R-G and B lasers into the right three sides would make a 'white' . almost 4am-whew long day..
CYA
new 488/60 arrived today (love it)- just in time for new prism/X-Kube pics.
I think I can get 488 from my argon. (ML)- not sure of the exact nm from SL Argons,,need to get ALL my 'Blue Family ' out for a new group pic

Adding a fan to the 500 mW laser engraver can be very inexpensive and will do much to keep your laser running longer if you indeed use it to engrave. That is what I would do if I were to buy this laser.

I know-- in fact I searched well and his 500 is a one-of
almost ALL the rest have active cooling.. but not this one- and yes= adding fans is a no brainer.
even for an underdriven A-130 diode.. he left 'analog' out of the title but DID include'TTL'
1mrad-- I am not 100% sure I understands the specs for voltage..'in vdc to diode' yes but its not 12vdc= so I searched for same engraver to verify that but found NONE..

would make a nifty little engraver-- some of the awards last year a the big BBQ cookoff were wood cutting boards with event won and the rest. BCFA-2017 yadda- and done by laser. and these cost the Fair 12$ EACH-- mmmm ?? times `50 boards. or more.. all of LPF )pretty much) is invited- its Oct 19-21 in Angleton Tx BCFA < search

most important- food is put out at 7pm.. after 9PM we stop putting more out. our beer garden ( 20 kegs) is open from early evening until the police come and run our guests off. midnight Fri 1AM sat..
we accept donations as sponsors.
& you can become an 'instant' sponsor WHILE the cook off is underway..just see me..

UPDATE
In spite of ebay roadblocks Alan is now relisting..
I guess from 'scratch' -- so-- check this out:
______________

KingKube has some balls

some new listings ... more coming.
his balls:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/blab1391/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

https://www.ebay.com/sch/blab1391/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

and what I have been calling a 'pyrimid prism'
but we do see these in the awesome pics by Bruce Lew-Radium and others.
here-
https://www.ebay.com/sch/blab1391/m...19EAAOSwb2JbnQLF&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

and these which I am in the dark about-
somebody add to this plz-- I will google that later..

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-KingKube-K9-Optical-Prism-Guide-Pillar-Quadrangular-Finish-Degree-60-40/323448972707?hash=item4b4f0fa5a3:g:8xUAAOSwIFRbnjuc

Some items are listed twice- one at auction (typically KK uses both a BIN and an auction. for same items- https://www.ebay.com/sch/blab1391/m.html?ditem=323448939954&hash=item4b4f0f25b2%3Ag%3A19EAAOSwb2JbnQLF&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Send him any link (via LPF) to any item and Alan will try to find there and offer the forum a good price and list that at his ebay.. He encourages any feedback on the listings.. any typos/errors etc
And if you want smaller balls or bigger balls-
- let Alan (KingKube) know.
Hoping he will make his initial intro thread. first time- I remember.. & is was not an intro.. BUT I did do it later. (better than never) Some interesting reading when looking at the first posts/threads of some members..
I lost the link to one I came upon IIRC at CPF -- this was close to its (LPF) launch.. Avery posted that he was going to make a pointer forum..the replies were not very nice.. something along the lines of:

'it wont work'--
'nobody will join it... they have CPF and its 'laser' section-' IICR

Hi-I posted in his intro thread- I got two : Arrived at LEAST double packed-very secure! With a nice thank you. II don't actually-yet-know what the PBS refers to. I think they are RGB splitters- I can't see any flaws-very nice! I ordered a 10cm sphere as well. Ordered Sep1 and arrived Sep19. Although it may have arrived on the 18th since I did not check yesterday. Pleased! Thanks for helping them out Hakzaw

Since then we have learned that these X-Kubes (so far) are not PBS.. which is used to combine lasers of the same (general) wavelength.. so they come as PBS red=PBS green etc.. I am learning right along with Alan... and will have it 'wrong' a lot..
Paul, RC and others would be where I would ask about optics.
and in asking about optics the specs are what KK needs- the pic. and as much info as possible.
I did not understand this at first .. mentioned to KK about the use here of prism pairs.. and w/o anything to really go by.. He found two (a pair? no) prisms and listed them -- now we know those were NOT what is used to tame beasts. But you cannot blame him for the good try,
IF you contact Alan ( KingKube==) its best to do that via LPF or Fbook. He has already put that out.. just read what he posted about FBook..then if you cannot connect via FB PM me.
I am there as Le Hakzaw..

.apparently one or both of us has caused eekbah to 'keep an eye on' us.
I have been unable to do feedback on a bunch of stuff from him.. says 'try later' BS-- that was 10 days AGO.
and Alan had to only list so many items upon him being allowed to come back
I have written EBay about the FBack [probs --no reply

N/P leaving FBack for others just for blab1391.

and this is his ebay store..
https://www.ebay.com/str/kube?_pgn=2
and having that should make sailing smoother.
They blocked one of my messgs via feebay. (to Alan) some BS about putting contact info in an ebay messg.. even using (dot) or (at) or kom -is a NO NO- the Fleabay bots watch for all that.
but I had none of that.. this time...

PBS stands for Polarized Beam Splitter. But, they can be used in reverse to combine beams. I have several AR coated for various wavelengths.

Thanks for the new link, Len. :D

A great place to look for information about lasers and laser optics is Sam Goldwasser's compendium that he has been adding to since 1994. It can be found under Sam's Laser FAQs. It is one of many resources available to you, but a very good one.
