If anyone wants to buy it, I need to know soon I sent them a email requesting to return since they have a 14 day or questions asked policy. Since it seemed that no one was interested. I can cancel if someone wants it. Also I would like to keep it in the US so shipping won't be a horrendous amount.

Sounds like fun Paul.

Don't delay on my account Billy, one day I want to build another spiro with a RGB laser, but no time soon, I have other hobbies gnawing at my wallet.

Just keep in mind that a PWM pulsed laser isn't as safe as the average power/brightness would indicate. The peak power is still the same with a small or high duty cycle.
That's why IMHO it's better to use analog modulation.

The drivers have a TTL input that takes square wave modulation to control each driver, the PWM is not actually powering the laser diode, just controlling the driver that powers the laser diode.

This has 12v to the drivers and the 0 - 5v ( actually 0 - 0.8 volts is off and 3.5 - 5.0 volts is on ) TTL signal is just to talk to the driver, the laser diode should be running CW just at varying current based on the TTL input.

Now a digitally controlled TTL can flash a laser in say a light show on and off pretty fast but isn't twisting a rotary pot, and the driver should still give the diode an unperceivable to our eyes soft start, it depends on the sophistication of the driver, which I would expect is pretty good.

Most of these have a frequency response range, so if its 1000 to 100,000 then it doesn't matter if it's getting a 10K cycle signal or 50K cycle signal, it's the pulse width from 0 to 100% that the driver uses to turn up and down the current to the laser diode, the laser is not sending out data, just getting brighter or dimmer all the way to off.

-----EDIT-----
I have not scoped the OPT driver for this device nor seen a schematic, but if it works like others it should go soft on the laser diode.

Safety isn't my main concern. Getting a good control over the apparent outputs is more important to me than trying to make it eye safe. In the end, whether is is controlled digitally or analog, the control is the most important part.

Might be contacting you with regard to your build...;) I'll probably modify it a little to fit my printer and print with advanced PLA. If that doesnt work Ill try PETG - never tried this material before though?

Edit: Would also be good to modify the end to accept a 10x beam expander..;)

I have few sketches for Al body also, let's see what I can work out....

Output is roughly 5mm after dichros, if you have old JetLaser 10X it probably would make it..

Yup I have 2 x 10X Jet Laser beam expanders ;); one old one and one new one. Although Al would be cool, I dont have a lathe. Another option might be a Brass PLA filament, that would give it a cool retro look!

Very interesting! :) I had a quick look, but they are only offering collection in france. They write "pickup" and DPD, which is a delivery service. So it's possible you can ask DPD to collect from them? Anyway I did splash out a little on the others so Il, try those first. ;)
