It is kinda a shame alot seem to stay away from custom builds. From my first member build I personally never saw the need to go back to a company.
I realize though it depends on what you want or need.
For a nice high powered blue or green, I would go the custom route where the good builders highly heat sink them from the module to the driver and find extra ways to add even more in a host of your choice. Something you won't see in something mass produced.
You can have them set to your preferred driver setting, as another example plus pic's of the build in progress with all the inside goodies they use and LPM readings.
Local and 2 day shipping usually and the support of the forum for some great builder's and reputation. Plus I see great prices.
Now I would think if someone wants say a 532 with all the safety features and plug and play options a good company would be the way to go.
Other exceptions are great member company's like Sanwu etc.
