Looking for a high-power 520. I have a SKYLASERS 532 300mW. Great laser but time to change from DPSS.

Found this 520. Nichia NDG700. Questions:

1. Anyone know what host this is? Seen it before. Looks similar diameter to 501B. 501B fits 18350s perfectly. Will this fit 18350s?
2. Drawing 1.8A. Using two batts in series, does batt capacity (mAh) simply add up? Two 16340s, 650mAh each, 1300mAh total? That gives an approx runtime of about 45 mins. (1300mAh / 1800mA).
3. Nichia NDG700 diode. Doing 1W with a G lens...so with a 2 or 3 element lens power probably around 700mW? & approx divergence? My 445 is about 1.5W and with a 3-element it's an amazing 0.85mRad.

Thanks everyone, very much.

That host is the Survival Laser Stainless Steel, you can find it at survivallaserusa.com. It is using the conical focus adapter.
Putting batteries in series does not add up the capacity; it only adds up the voltage.
Power with a 2- or 3-E lens will be around 900mW. I think the divergence is the same as the M140 445nm diodes.

I have that host, some 18350 will fit but some won't, there is a battery extension tube they sell for $20 that lets you use two 18650, that's what I use.

Interesting...I know voltage adds with batteries in series, but it's interesting total capacity doesn't. So two 650mAh 16340s, there's still only a "total" of 650mAh available. That makes runtime only about 21 minutes at 1.8A. It's like my 300mW 532 HL which pulls 1500mA and runs on one 16340.

About the same deal as my HL 300mW 532 which runs on one 16340. Pulls about 1.5A and lasts like 25 minutes. Also my 1.5W 445 pulls about 850mA, and with two 18350s of 850mAh each, it certainly doesn't last 2 hours lol. I'm gonna look into that extension tube. Even with an 18350 that's only ~28 minute runtime for this 520. Two 18650s would be awesome...that would be almost an hour and a half. ^_^

How do you know it draws 1.8A from the batteries? Have you already bought it and tested it at the tailcap? Or is the driver set at 1.8A?

The seller says the driver is set at 1.8. I've also seen 1.8 on DTR's page for this diode so I know it's not outrageous, although it's interesting to see such a high draw...the largest I've seen for non-DPSS is about 900mA :)

Ok that's the current that the driver supplies to the diode, the current from the batteries to the driver is different, how different depends on the operating voltage of the diode, the driver will vary this some as needed to keep the current constant. There is more power drawn from the batteries than what goes to the diode, some of the power is disipated as heat.
