Hello, I'm new here, and to lasers.. I want a good laser, that is bright outside at distance. I want a laser for max 300$ I just want some suggestions, what companies, what kind of laser, what colour ? I heard green was the brighest ? how much brighter ? a 500 W green more bright than a 2W blue ?
I heard WL was scam/overpriced, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Also what is NM ? how much is each NM

http://www.sflasers.us/Arcane_20_445nm/p2035127_11183249.aspx is this 2.6 W version good ? or WL has the better laser ?
any other good laser in 150-300 $ class?

Phew okay, that's a lot of questions. If you want a high-quality laser, disregarding price, definitely go with Jetlasers, this is directly to all their green lasers. I'm assuming you mean 500mW of green, and yes it is brighter than 1W of blue. Wicked Lasers is not recommended. Sometimes they have dud units, their customer service is not very great, and shipping times are in the months. And NM is the abbreviation of nanometers (and it's usually lower case, like nm), and it's the measure of the wavelength of the laser. Wavelength is pretty much the colour, 405nm is purple, 445nm is usually dark blue, 473nm is sky blue, 515nm and 520nm is like a green with a bluish tinge, 532nm is the regular lime green, 589nm is a yellow, and 593.5nm is a more golden orange. Lastly, 635nm is a bright orangish-red, and 660nm is a regular red. Also, 670nm is perceived by some people as a dark cherry red, while to others the same as 660nm. So, starting at 400nm and ending at 700nm, the colour moves up in the spectrum starting at purple and ending at red.

Thanks for answer, but I googled nanometer =1 m = 1000000000 nm
I don't find this accurate, how would a laser have a wavelenght of under 1 meter :D?
So you recomend Greenlaser, a greenlaser has better Brightness and wavelenght than a blue 1-2 w ? ty
:edit also typo, max 300 $

The light emitted by the laser has a wavelength measured in the 100s of nanometers, in most cases anyway. So for your average green pointer the wavelength of the light emitted is 532nm.

ugh,I have a hard time understanding this, but more NM = more beam lenght ?
and 250 W green bright more up / longer than for example than a 2W blue? what makes the blue so expensive for low power?

No, light is an electromagnetic wave, and seeing as it is a wave it has a wavelength. The wavelength in the case of visible light corresponds to what colour the light is. Shorter wavelengths are closer to the blue end of the spectrum, longer wavelengths are closer to the red end of the spectrum.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light

I guess English isn't your first language, so (don't take this the wrong way!!), this may be easier reading if you are having a hard time with the wikipedia article, it should be a little less wordy. Physics for Kids: Light Spectrum

Also, you should avoid double or even triple posting here (Multiple posts in a row before anyone else has commented). Use the edit button on your posts, instead of adding more posts.

Alrighty, thanks.. Any recomendations of a laser to 200-300 $ ? :D also what colour for shining at distance with a clear beam ? keep in mind 200-300 $ I see high W Green comes with a bigger price, so keep tht in consicderation. If 300 MW Green, or 2W blue which is better for this ? :D t
EDIT: why is this 30 MW and so expensive while u can get 1.6 W for same price ?

Green is the better choice if you want to see the beam. 300mW of green will have a brighter beam than 2W of blue.

At those power levels you will need to add in the cost of a pair of safety glasses for whichever wavelength you choose as well as batteries and a charger for said batteries.

The PL-E Pro that Gabe recommended would be a good choice. LaserBTB are also popular here, they are known for good quality and customer service.

Don't skip on safety because you "can't afford it" (Not saying that you will! :) ). Lots of new members want to buy the most powerful laser they can for the lowest price they can find then don't want to buy safety goggles. Your eyes are worth way more than the cost of a pair of decent goggles.

Read the stickies in the safety section ( Safety & Legal Issues - Laser Pointer Forums - Discuss Laser Pointers ) for more information on safety. :D

PL-E Pro is the best of the best.
JetLasers also makes a lower cost series that have less features the the PL-E Pro seris called the Equality series ---you can get a 300mW or 400mW 532nm green for under $300 ----you can get a 520nm green 1W/1000mW for $399.
The Equlity do not fancy intenal focus by turning a collr like a camera lens or some other features but are excellet lasers. see: FIXED Focus 532nm Equality series Green Lasers

Learn what wavelength and frequency actually mean --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_spectrum

You can compare brightness to human vision here of beam and dot here: Relative Laser Beam Brightness Calculator: (445nm 1000mw) vs. (532nm 1000mw) 532nm green beam at same output power as 445nm is approx 8X to 10X brighter and dot almost 20X brighter---means more visable to human vision which is more sensitive to green. a 400nm 532 green beam is about 4X brighter than a 1000mW 445nm etc.

Look at Norway's laser laws also so you know what legal ground you ae standing on --here - http://www.laserpointersafety.com/news/news/other-news_files/2c514120c637a88f9619bfd7c43b9a7f-156.php

You can get a JetLasers Pl-E PRo 445nm blue 2W/2000mW for just $199 and also PL-E Pro 300mW, 532nm for $299 which is focusable and has longer run time than Equality series also

PS the dazzler series is for shining at people eyes at distances that will not cause permanent damage to flashblind them for a short time abd do not have a full focus range---the standard PL-E Pro has full focus range and is "all purpose" can beused to dazzle also but dangerous and probably illegal to do -I Don't think you want the Dazzler series---will get you into legal trouble---

Hope that helps

Yes.

PL-E Pro 532nm green -- PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers

or PL-E Pro 445nm blue ----most powerful blue laser handheld, 5w 6w blue laser 445nm portable, 445nm 3.5w 4w blue laser pointers jetlasers

Equality lower cost series here ---Equality series lasers - JETLASERS.ORG

PL-E Pros are highest quality professional level great lasers-- 10X better than anything Wicked LAsers ever made --you can't go worng with JetLasers --everyone who has them loves them+ Gray at JetLasers gives the best customer service in the business you can email him any questions jetlasers@gmail.com

PS You will need good laser goggles/glasses with any of them for eye safety--protection aganist eye damage. Here is a Laser EYE Hazard Chart --study it so you do not harm yourself or others -- http://www.lasersafetyfacts.com/resources/Laser-hazard-distance-chart.pdf
