green laser help

looking for a laser that can leave a dot on the ground 200-300 feet away in the daytime. I'm not looking for something to burn or cut and would prefer a wide or fat beam.

I purchases a 1watt laser after being told I needed something in the 700-1000mW range. I was actually surprised how bright this thing is and will sell it since I'm actually afraid to use it.

I have a goose problem and did some research that they are afraid of the green dot. I tried a 5mw laser when the sun was not up and it worked really well. Its not about hitting them with the light just tracking the dot up to them. I'm not sure why the are so afraid of it but the fly away like they are being chased.

So during the day they can't see the 5mw laser and I want to find something that will work.

So what is the best laser to get not the most powerful for daytime use thats (safer)

You need quite a bit of power to see it in daylight at that distance. And while you may not see it yourself, it will definitely be seen when standing near the dot at a distance.

I just shined my 200mW green laser outside, and the dot was pretty hard to see at around 300 feet. You're probably best off keeping your current laser, as pointing on grass-like areas makes it very hard to be seen.

Also, anything above 5mW is potentially dangerous for your own eyes as well as the eyes of gooses. So even though your 1W laser is your best bet, it's not very animal friendly and dangerous for your own eyes too.

Once I tried the laser I couldn't believe how bright it was. It has a low medium and high setting plus strobe and sos. I wish I could just leave it on the lower settings but every time I turn it on it goes to the next setting.

I really don't want to use this laser as intended. Frankly it scares me.

That's actually a good thing, believe it or not.
It means you have a healthy respect for the

yes even the concrete floor was enough for me as far as reflecting.


I decided to sell it so if anyone is interested I just want to get what I paid for it.
So if anyone wants a 1watt laser green asking 500 shipped comes with li batteries and charger

Well I tried the 1watt laser today to chase the geese. I was about 100+ feet away and the goose was on the roof of a house.
Its overcast here so I figured it would show better. I lost the dot halfway to the house. I'm not sure if it was the goggles, the daytime or that the dot is so small but I never got close to the bird.

It were probably the goggles. As long as you don't point throug a window or on a reflective surface, you don't need to use the goggles. Maybe a red laser is better for what you're doing with it. As grass/leafs are mainly green, you won't really see the dot well in daylight.

You should however be able to see the beam of such a high powered laser in daylight, so give it another try without goggles maybe.

I'm just going to go back to chasing the geese with my drone or hurling rocks at them Ha!

Pointing at a wall that isn't closer to you than around 20 feet won't harm your eyes. Yes, it's really bright, but don't let that scare you too much. Why not try standing outside, or with an open window, and point outside? You'll probably be able to notice the beam easily and be able to follow it to the dot.

Looking directly in the sunlight is bad for your eyes too, it's the same with lasers. As long as you're not too close to the dot and don't look directly (or via a reflection) in the diode, there's nothing that could happen.

However, if you're still not comfortable using it, then you're pretty much out of luck when it comes to lasers.

You have the perfect laser for this, see this video and see that a green laser a small fraction of the power of yours can put a dot on something at very great distances.

yes its the safety glasses. I just tried it again direct sunlight and could see the beam and the dot over 200 feet away. I was even able to focus it from a large squareish dot to a fairly fine point.

I just have a lot of respect for the energy that this thing emits
