Greetings LPF!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. My name is Brandon (Online nickname = Lancor). I'm a Network\Systems Admin for an IT Consulting firm in Connecticut, USA. I recently met a gentleman through work that is really into lasers, after a short conversation with him I took to the Interwebz to learn what I could. A few seconds in, I ended up on LPF, a few minutes after that my mind was blown at how complex lasers are when you get down to the details. After reading a few "Beginners guide to lasers" posts I'm hooked. Looking forward to learning everything I can about the technology and becoming a valuable resource to the community. And if I can convince some of my friends\family\fellow nerds to get into it as well, it'll be an added bonus. I'm looking forward to building my first laser sometime in the next month or two. I have a lot of learning to do before then, but I'm sure all the info I need around here somewhere. Thanks for being here, I'm sure I'll see everyone around.

Welcome to LPF! don't forget to have a look into safety threads etc aswell,
heres a link to from a trusted seller to get you started for eye protection http://www.survivallaserusa.com/Safety/cat1667093_1527285.aspx - Make sure they cover your wavelength(s) you will be using

Thanks RYDorDIE278 & Tha Greenlander for the welcome. I've always been a bit of a safety conscious person so I'm planning on picking up a couple pairs of protective eye wear to cover each wavelength.

Thanks guys! I just looked through your project page Alaskan. That looks like one hell of a fun project. Where are you buying the hardware for it? Or is all of the circuitry custom built?
