So first off, I'm new and this is my first post.:)

Second, before I get into anything else, yes I know all about laser safety and using proper safety glasses and whatnot. I have 3 sets of glasses for blocking out blue/green lasers and would get ones for blocking red lasers should I order one. I have 3 sets so that if I show anyone my laser they will be protected too.

So with that out of the way, my current 50 mW green laser just died on me. Given that I paid like 30$ for it off one of those meh sites I'm not to broken up about it, but now I don't have anything over 5 mW and I want to fix that.

So the only sites I know of that have any sort of reputability are WickedLasers, O-Like, and Lazerer.

I'm ignoring WL all together because I'm only looking to spend 50-80$ at most right now.

O-Like seems pretty good, but their prices are a bit higher than Lazerer. I know a lot of people on here seem to favor O-Like, but I'm wondering if Lazerer is any good (It doesn't have to be the best built laser ever, just decent).

Just FYI I'm looking for something in the 100 mW+ power range, preferably green or blue (not violet), but if theres a decent red one out there I wouldn't mind either.

Thanks!

Both O-like and Lazerer are decent, but I would suggest Sci-Fi Lasers. The owner (TheJoker301) is a member here, and a great guy. He will have much better customer service, better quality control, and quicker shipping. His prices will also be very similar. He has a 100mw green for somewhere around $55 and a 200mw red for about $10 less.

And welcome to the forum :)

If you are looking for decent cheap lasers, both O-like and Lazerer are a good choice.

Yeah, o-like's prices are good. Quality is meh

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY RED SAFETY GLASSES FROM O-LIKE. Theirs do almost
nothing at 660nm, no matter what they say. There are a lot of bogus "650 - 660nm" glasses
floating around out there, including the ones o-like sells. Prettymuch anything under $50 (yes
the dollar sign is supposed to go before the number, not after it) is garbage.

The two good sources of sub-$50 red (actually the lens color is blue but they block red
wavelengths) glasses are Survival Laser and Dragon Lasers. These can work a little too good
though and you won't see anything <1W. The ones AixiZ sells are a little better, but cost a
bit more. After that, you're up into the $150+ range. If you can afford them, the RB2 are
really nice. Those are the ones to get if you have the money. Here is a good thread
about these glasses from back when I was a noob (still am really)

Yeah I definitely won't be able to afford both a 50$ laser and 50$ just for glasses.

My glasses were only 5$ a piece and are just red tinted safety glasses. I tested them by shining my green laser at them and holding a piece of white paper behind them to see if any light got through and they blocked all the light.

Looked at Sci-Fi lasers. Prices are pretty good, but everything is currently sold out. I'll probably be waiting for the holidays before I get one anyways, so I'll check back later.

When you see Sci fi has stock, move fast, he sells out very quickly. Good luck

By reputable I mean seen lots of videos and stuff about them so I know they aren't a complete scam.

Well in a way they are man.

Most of their Artic series are waaaayyy under-spec and they used to lie alot to their customers.

And all their lasers are terribly over-priced :undecided:

Laser btb has a great sale on 445-450 if you like that wavelength. Other than that Sci fi look like it's your best bet.

O-Like has a 250 mW waterproof red for 55$. I kind of like the idea of red now because you can get burning power for cheaper than green and its not as blindingly bright to look at.

I'll need some new safety glasses. know of any decent ones for around 30$?

My sfcr 650nm from joker at Sci fi metered at 280. 80mw over spec.

If you contact TheJoker through this site, he can pre-order or hold a SFCR for you. It will be over 200mw of red and only $45.

EDIT: If you get green though, you can use the uvex safety glasses (link in my sig) that are only $8.

Hmm. I could get the SFCR-200 and probably have enough money left over for those Eagle Pair anti-red glasses. I think that would work best. I'll wait until I have money though before I ask for a pre-order.
