So I am on the look out for pretty much anything gas or ion related.

HeNes
HeCds
Argon
Krypton
Mixed Gas
etc

Only thing with HeNes is that I only want it if it's 594, 604, or 612nm, or 633. Preferably of a significant power (15mW+) but will consider anything. I have my own 543's to test, and having others won't change anything. The yellow to orange spectrum is pretty weird when it comes to anomalies, and some reds can also act a little strange.

When it comes to HeCd, even if you don't know if it works, I will still be interested in a PM simply telling me of it's existence. I will then go from there with the details you provide on whether I want to make a purchase.

With Argon. Sinlge phase 110V only please. Air cooled preferred, but I can probably work something out to get water flow for a water cooled. Though will take some looking in to. Message me if you're interested, and I will see what I can do. I only want healthy tubes single line or multiline, low hours. I don't need a tunable. I've got one, and beyond looking cool and having the ability to select colors, it's pointless. That's not to say I don't like them, I think they're easily the coolest of them all, but pointless when it comes to optics testing. With this particular tube, the only two lines NOT coming in (currently an 8 line) are the 454 and 528. These lines will not come out with external optics. Only with some really good cleaning, or a healthy tube. So. Single line or multiline only, fresh tube, etc. REALLY looking for either an Omni 532, or Uni 60X.

With Krypton. Same applies. Minus the model number. When it comes to Krypton, I will accept a tunable. Yes it's pointless in the realm of my testing. However, I can accept the uniqueness, and it will receive the care it needs to stay healthy.

If you have an Omni 532, or Uni 60X, don't worry about selling me the PSU. I have one, they are interchangeable, and I don't need the clutter in such a small dorm. So just the heads please!

Also have another PSU that should work for a number of other tubes, however it is currently KIA. Working to repair it, but it's not going to be as easy as the OMNI 150 (the PSU for the 532).

All that being said. If you have a gas or ion that you want to sell, and it doesn't meet those requirements, still PM or email me about it. I will gladly consider it, and I might even sway and pull the trigger anyway. I will eventually move, I might have 3 phase some day, or 220V

found a couple good HeCd's on the bay...was looking at them but maybe you should take a look bloom. I'm with you on this one....I'd like to grab a few gas tubes myself. they work great for certain things due to their stability and long run time.
 
I just got done searching through nitrogens, cadmium is next. However, I've seen a lot of duds lately.

Interesting story, I was just about to bump this thread.

indeed. I need a good 488 argon. cant find one for a good price. been keeping my eyes peeled though.
 
Also, before poking around on ebay for a HeCd, keep in mind that these are far more fragile than any HeNe you've ever seen.

Plus they're soft-seal. If it's not working in the auction, ask for pictures of it working. If they cannot provide proof. Do not buy.
 
I agree. I've never used a HeCd. but i use that as a general rule of thumb. I don't buy one that isn't proven working...too many duds on the market.
 
There are only a few thing worth it to me to gamble the money. Such as a PMS or an HP/Agilent.

Anyway, off to bed to dream of a land filled with coherent 604.6nm photons :)

EDIT: I am not really looking to hard for a HeCd. If I know it's working, and not too expensive, I'll definitely buy it. However, currently my list goes:

1. 30mW 632.8nm
2. 150mW+ Healthy ALC 60X or Omni 532 Argon ion
3. Krypton ion
4. HeCd

That list has a price bias. If all of those costed the same amount, the table would literally be flipped :p

found a spectra physics argon ion on fleebay for 170$. head only, no pictures of it working...sad face. ill keep my eyes peeled for you! all i see is lots of very old uniphase HeNe's. cheap, and say they are "working", but head only, and old. made 10 years before i was born :P (86). also, heres a 633-but not terribly powerful. i have no idea what ideal prices are, so here ye go

I think merideth has 25mW 632.8nm HeNe laser heads...they'd prolly take a lot of power to run though...and they'd be big I imagine...

The 1507 is your small 0.8mA 632.8nm HeNe similar to the SP 155A's. Basically perfect if you want an easy first HeNe, or you're a professor looking to bore some grad students ;)

Meredith DOES have a 25mW 632.8nm for $1K ;) Not worth it when you can buy the same setup off ebay for $200. You just need the PSU.

true ^^ but its a new tube not a used one. just depends on how much you want it. new argons and kryptons are thousands...but now and then you can find them leftover or NOS for a few hundred...:whistle:
 
How much output from the HR end?

Two biggest things for me right now are test HeNes, and a good test Argon. Something with a healthy output of 150mW+. As far as HeNes, I am looking for some cheap 5mW, and a good 20mW+ tube that I can access both ends of.
