Ok place your bets now ladies and gentlemen..!;) lol

Ill have to get a diffraction grating first though before I can do the test. Any recommendations?

In which case... are you willing to sell it by any chance? :D

EDIT: there was a thread just a day or two ago on where to get cheap diffraction gratings... it's here somewhere :p

^^^Probably not, but we should perhaps find out what it is first! :p

I too noticed the 520 looks pretty blue. more like a 488nm. maybe slightly more green than 488nm...

Its lower powered, so yes its closer to blue for SURE...

Maybe the "dud" Grainde said he got, isn't a dude at all... maybe a 510nm diode :p

That had briefly crossed my mind, but it would have probably died at 200 mA? I got the diode from the man DTR, so it should be a 520. He also doesnt sell any 510's?

510 diode by some differences in manufacturing. Its a "freak" probably.
IIRC these diodes don't die... they dim? anyways 200mA seems like a conservative rate

I know ARG's test thread for the 520's showed they were invincible ;), but Lazeerer actually told me a while back that they can die if pushed over 300 mA. He said RHD had killed a couple around 300 mA and that they weren't as tough as was generally thought.

Im not pushing it above 200 mA because that's where I hit the max power point. I mentioned earlier that I adjusted the X-boost pot on my LPM and that 200 mA was the sweet spot. Anything either side led to a reduction in output.

I have no experience with the 510's, but their max power is supposedly IIRC 30 mW? I have no idea what they should be run at, or what they are capable of if over driven...?

Ill try the diffraction grating and we'll see what comes out. Im really intrigued.

BTW Ive taken a few more pics and will update tomorrow.

Here are a few new photos taken last night.

In the pics where the images appear overly blue, this was due to the light from the mighty Saik :eg: hitting the leaves of a nearby tree and scattering the light over the scene. In the original pics the saik was aimed at a wall further back, below and behind this tree. Just mentioning this as some may think its a white balance issue! ;)

@ LB hope you like these, the scattering gave some nice colour gradients through the pics!

Also these pics were taken without the UV filter on the lens and the Camera profile set to Camera Neutral. I noticed the 405 still wasnt right until this had been set to the default setting ie an unaltered image in terms of colour and saturation.

Whoa that definitely looks like 490nm-500nm

That first pic almost looks like 488nm

Haha maybe DTR got his diodes mixed up and sent me a 488 instead! ;)

Im ordering a grating and will report back with the results. Fingers crossed!

Laser gardening as a new form of nature relaxation:).

Pictures are really remarkable! :kewlpics:

It's nice to see the MagicStick MS-V1 among the lasers used, 405nm version must be a real treat. Trying to imagine now how would it match with the two "Greed" (445nm & 638nm) versions I own:shhh:

Outdoor laser photography is always welcome:wave:

Thanks. :) Yup you saw it, its the craftsmanship of a master! I dont know if you noticed, but the 520 is a MS V4...:shhh: Sinner really makes some fantastic hosts!

So when do we get to see the Greeds at work? ;)
