Hi, I'm pretty new here and have been doing a large amount of reading on this forum, but I still haven't been able to find the answer to one of my questions and I was hoping maybe someone here could help me out.

I was just wondering, how can you determine what to set the driver at? I know that there are different mA settings that they should be set to, but how do i know which one to use?

Thanks to whomever may reply to this "noob question":D

Depends on wjat diode ypu are driving and the range of current it can handle.

thanks, i appreciate the fast response!

so, i just looked at the PL450B diode datasheet, and it reads that the max operating current (IF) is 165mA. Would i set that driver to a setting of 150mA or would i go higher and set it to 200mA? :thanks:

150mA. If you go higher you can potentially damage the diode or be past the eficiency curve and get less power per mA in.

The specs on the data sheets are very conservative. The max in the sheet is no where near the max we use in our build. Look for information about a specific diodes in this forum. Especially the murder tests reveal much information about the max power, efficiency etc.
