Any aussie's had luck with customs lately?

Hey guys,

Been lurking these forums for a while now so thought it was about time I jumped on and started posting!

Finally ordered my first laser from O-like around a week ago which seems to be the place to go for us in Aus.

Just wondering if there's any aussie's on here that have purchased recently and how you've gone with customs as I've heard they're really cracking down at the moment.

I've been stressing constantly and been checking my online tracker every 10 minutes! Haha well anyway, let me know.

What kind of laser did you order?

I've ordered my power rock 50mW about a year ago from them. It was shipped in two separate packages with the module separate and got through no worries.
Did you ask them how it was going to be shipped?

Not sure about now, i'm currently waiting for a 445 laser from a user here. It has been dismantled in pieces with no battery and shipped in one package. Fingers crossed it gets through fine.

I have recently ordered some new wish pens and only 2 out of 5 have arrived, now I have 3 very nice letters from customs.

And few weeks ago I ordered 2 lasers in two packages, one package with the modules and goggles and the other with the hosts, batteries and charger. both got through fine.

@duzy I would be surprised if it got through, I really hope it does though. But to be honest I would have spent that extra $10-$20 to be sure I got it, but would buy as much as possible to off set postage costs as best I can

According to DHL's online tracker it got through customs no probs and should be delivered tomorrow morning! So I'm pretty happy

What exactly do the letters from customs say Jolly?

I cant really remember and I didn't really read it, I just read through to until I seen the "Actions" or whatever, all it said was I can try to get the item in question back but it would possibly go to court or something and I would have to POSSIBLY pay those bills, then right next to that was a section which said I can do nothing and let them "destroy" it, with no further actions taken towards me, which means one of the workers/officers/people has the laser, because we all know they only get in that job for cool things like that :crackup:

Just got delivered!

Being as excited as I was, I figured I'd give it a go without the glasses because it's day time... Never again. Now I know why you guys go on and on about them!

Bit disappointed with the diffraction caps, but the laser on its own is very impressive.

I'm going to sort of hijack this thread a bit, but can anyone tell me if this will still get through customs 200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme as all of the information I find on the net is 2 years old, because I am worried about getting another letter from customs after I received one several years back when the ban first came into place for hand held lasers.

I've sold a couple of lasers to AU customers & have gotten them through customs both times without any problems, but this is because I separated the lasers into 2 parts & shipped them separately. It costs a little more $ obviously but I think it's worth it if you dont want your laser confiscated. I have no idea how chinese companies like o-like does it but I'm guessing that your shipment is 1 laser in 1 package. There's always a chance of your laser slipping through customs but as you said they're cracking down on this stuff. Good luck :beer:
