Infinius how do you know that the laser i want isnt ir filtered

I own one of them.

Btw, IR content in cheaper modules can vary anywhere between 2% and 60%... it's rare to get either, but it happens.

Fortunately the green portion of the laser will fry your eyes long before IR becomes an issue.

Basically what I'm trying to get at... goggles are like a safety belt, only useful when you're already in trouble. They are NOT a free pass to be careless.

Dude i am really not a careless guy i care about safety
So i just want a seat belt as you put it
A good pair of 532nm goggles should be fine right,
I am extremely careful i just wanna be prepared for somethig that might happen
Accidents happen
But you can reduce the chance of it happening by being safe and prepared

Good to hear :)

I don't know about those goggles specifically, but the ones from survival laser will work very well.

Also when you decide to move up to class 4 lasers, they will still serve you well... whereas I definitely would not trust those beginner goggles with a 1W+ laser.

There are a lot of 200mW focusable models from Lazerer. Costs range from $100 and higher. Do a little searching on their site. It shouldn't be too difficult. :)

O-Like sells a 150mW 532nm laser that is focusable, waterproof and IMO, has a really nice host.

There is also a 200mW version of the one above but is currently out of stock. You could try contacting O-like regarding its availability.

Edit: sorry I can't provide links. It's hard to post proper links on my iPod. Just search for the "Sharp" green laser from o-like

I will be posting several lasers for late tonight. All all well over 100mW, I'm not committing to it yet, but one of them might be a lazerer classic 200mW. I need to think about it though. I had 5 lasers in the same host, it's the last one... best beam specs, and divergence. Starts off in tem01, but shifts to tem00 after a few seconds, and immediately, once it's warm.

A 200mW 532nm laser would make for a very good first laser. They are impressive and that output is rather nice. I have heard lots of good things about Lazerer lately and I plan to buy one of their lasers soon. Overall I dislike o-like from personal exp and from what I have heard around.

As for goggles, at 200mW the laser will be so bright in 532nm that I agree that IR isn't really much of an issue. The only time you may have problems is if you intend to look at the dot at close range for extended times(burn stuff). You should be good to roll with those cheap goggles if you mostly use the laser outdoors and for distance pointing. Better goggles that block IR as well should be on your list of things to buy but may not be required right away.

In a nutshell (IMHO), get a laser from Lazerer or from infinitus and you will be best off and grab cheapo goggles for now.

Lazerer has this one in stock right now:
LZSK - Stick 532nm 200mW High Power DPSS Green Laser Pointer

You could also contact Max from Lazerer and ask him when the lasers will be back in stock. Toss him an email at sales@lazerer.com or lazerer@gmail.com and he could probably tell you.

For the most part focus on a 532nm isn't useful since they are usually set to infinity at the minimum focus level meaning you usually cant take them to a smaller focus for burning which is pretty much the only reason you would need focus. Besides burning with a 200mW 532nm laser would not be too spectacular anyway.

Nice, I didn't know that. I'm going to have to remember that for my inevitable future purchase.

BTW, my skylaser 532nm has focus and I have used it once just to see what it did and that's it.
