Well if it is in terahertz range it would no be laser, as it is not considered light. And it totally could work .. why not ?

See, that's what bothered me this article claims it's a laser that has the magic ability to sense even chemicals in your body from 164 feet away. I mean they were wrong about the laser part so I hope they're wrong about this thing. Otherwise it's literally Big Brother.

It's logical. I could see it happening. However, what about a diffuser? Similar to a laser diffuser for a car.

Hell, what about interference? Still cool though.

Look, even if it can do that, it will get hung up in the bureaucratic process for months. Let alone the ethical concerns, and the inevitable uproar it will cause.

So I wouldn't expect to see your friendly neighborhood squad car with one on the dash board for quite awhile.

Oh, you guys didn't get the memo? Big brother is more important than ethics or personal privacy.. just FYI. If it suits the gov't that every American should be stripped of their privacy and individual rights, that's what'll happen.. and I think it is happening. My only question (and no doubt that of the gov't as well) is what are the people going to do about it? If the current trends are any indicator, the people as a whole will do nothing at all. Why? Because standing up for our rights requires some effort and action. People these days walk right by other people bleeding out on the street because they can't be bothered.. you think they'll stand up for citizen's rights? Lol..

Let's not forget the government imposed liabilities if you stop, and help someone bleeding out... if they die, and you're not licensed to help, you may well be charged with manslaughter.

After that the person's family can come after you for civil liability too!

So just bear that in mind... in america no good deed goes unpunished.

If on the other hand you happened to steal millions of dollars from people, and live the high life for decades... IF you get caught, you'll just go to prison... you know a place where tax payers will (people you stole from) will pay for you to sit around doing nothing.

Most likely you won't even be in there too long.

I've been reading a lot about obamacare today... feeling kind of

If it is just a "Laser" wouldn't it just be "light"?
Light can not penetrate through clothing.
I would think if they could tell what you had for breakfast it is because you spilled it all over your self and it is picked up on the surface.
If it is actually penetrating through clothing & skin it could be mixed with x ray tech.
Terrorists can start wearing tin foil under shirts to reflect the beams.

That is true, can't argue with it... but still I see some seriously cold-hearted laziness these days. Seems like way too often people look the other way or pretend not to notice some f*cked up sh*t just because they don't want to make an effort. Sooner or later, IMO, there's going to be a whole bunch of people living in some seriously unpleasant conditions because they couldn't be bothered with making an effort. Anyone who knows me knows that the very idea of walking past or ignoring a problem or bad situation goes against every fiber of my being. That goes for simple everyday problems all the way up to government size ones. Sometimes I feel fortunate that I've never walked up on someone being raped or assaulted because I could get killed knowing what my reaction would be.

I'm talking about peaceful efforts of course, I'm not favoring revolution or violence of any kind, but there needs to be an uptick in the amount of effort shown to protect citizen's rights. Homeland Security is a scary term when you think about it.. it's very broad, and you just don't know exactly what constitutes a threat to the homeland. You and I could present a "threat to the homeland" under a startling amount of not-unheard of conditions. It can just as easily be a tool against us as it can be against terrorism... which is another uncomfortably broad term. The wrong rhetoric is enough to be labeled as sympathetic to "terrorists". It's so easy for this kind of thing to be turned against the people themselves without them even realizing it until it's too late.

I consider myself to be left-leaning, but I don't claim any party. I'm not too much into conspiracy theories, but ever since 911 this has made me very nervous. I've had a very hard time finding out just where the line is drawn as to where our privacy is respected under all circumstances. It used to be our homes, but a modern drone with good IR imaging devices can see through walls like they are glass. There's soon to be tens of thousands of them plying the skies performing missions of homeland security.. And that's just one of a whole bunch of ways the gov't can get into our homes.
